而者不相成時節ニ有之此先御物入も差見居候儀
今度御用人頭取被 仰付候ニ付而者御省略筋任シ
相勤御入方ニ掛候儀者受前之場者勿論他筋向々
江も得と相尋及見聞御手元江掛り候義たり共
猶又格別ニ御入方減省候様不差扣筋々江も存

（御内証）方のことについては、御先代様がご苦労に思し召され、御手元の御入用を厳重にお省きになり、もっぱら御節倹（節約・倹約）のお世話もあったけれども、この時節に至っては、なおさら御難渋がいよいよ増し、右の通り手詰めの御暮らし向きとなり、この時節、格別の御取り締まりがなければならない時節であり、この先、御物入り（出費）も見込まれる。今度、御用人頭取を仰せ付けられたことに付いては、御省略（節約・簡略化）の筋を任され相勤め、御入方（収入・歳入）に関わる事については、受け前の場（既定の収入源）はもちろん、他の筋・方々へも十分に尋ね、見聞を広め、御手元に関わることであっても、なおまた格別に御入方を減省（削減・節約）できるよう、差し控える筋々へも存じ寄り（意見・提案）を申し聞かせ、取り計らうべき旨を仰せ出された。
一、同年七月、江戸表において不時（非常時・急変）の事があり、差し出される節の備えとして、与力勤めの者十人、足軽小頭共に二十二人をお附けになる旨を仰せ出された。
一、同年八月、相州（相模国）の御備場（防衛拠点・砲台場）の再見分（再調査・再検分）について、公辺（幕府）へのお伺いが済んだので、この節、再見分のために彼の地へ遣わされる旨を仰せ出された。河瀬重次郎の儀も、右の場所の御普請（工事・建設）の取り建て方（建設計画）の吟味のため、再見分として一同に遣わされるので、諸事よく申し談ずべき旨を仰せ出された。

Regarding the domain's internal financial affairs (*o-naishō-kata*): the previous lord had exerted great efforts, strictly curtailing personal household expenditures and earnestly promoting frugality and economy; however, as the situation now stood, the financial difficulties had grown ever more severe, resulting in the strained financial circumstances described above. The present moment required exceptional measures of oversight and control, with further expenditures anticipated ahead. Now that he had been appointed Head of the Senior Attendants (*Goyōnin Headmaster*), he was entrusted with carrying out duties related to economies and simplifications (*shōryaku*). Regarding matters pertaining to revenue (*irikata*): he was to make thorough inquiries not only into established sources of income, but also into other channels and parties, broadening his knowledge, and even in matters directly pertaining to the lord's household, he was furthermore to communicate ideas and proposals to various parties that might otherwise be inclined to hold back, so as to achieve further exceptional reductions in expenditures, and to take appropriate measures accordingly, as was officially proclaimed.
Item: In the seventh month of the same year, it was officially proclaimed that, in preparation for any unexpected contingencies (*fuji*) that might arise in Edo, ten men serving as mounted escorts (*yoriki*) and twenty-two men including foot-soldier unit leaders (*ashigaru kogashira*) were to be attached to him.
Item: In the eighth month of the same year, as the inquiry to the shogunate (*kōbe*) regarding a re-inspection (*mi-kenbun*) of the defense installations (*o-sonaeba*) in Sagami Province (*Sōshū*) had been concluded, it was officially proclaimed that he was to be dispatched to that location for the re-inspection at this time. It was also proclaimed that Kawase Jūjirō was likewise to be dispatched along with the group for the re-inspection, to examine the planning and construction (*o-fushin tatekata*) of the said location, and that all parties were to consult with one another thoroughly on all matters.
