正月元日
一、晴天。格式以上の年始御礼。
辰の刻（午前8時頃）に揃って出仕し、御礼を申し上げました。今年から御倹約・御用捨てにより扇子を差し上げましたが、やはり引き方がありましたので、扇子代料を半減して、御供番十三銅ずつを御中小姓目付衆の世話で取り集めました。
十一日
一、例年の通り御用初めにより、久左衛門宅へ同役並びに下役久兵衛が参りました。しかし御用請けは今日から御貸付金勘定の寄合を始めました。
十三日
一、団右衛門殿からの御手紙は左の通りです：
「この節、川長下筋に鴨が見えるとのことですので、綱を通して差し出すようにと存じます。」

一、今日、総平伊助が小鶴狩りに出ました。十九日夕方に帰り、鶴一羽、千鳥二羽、背黒一羽の都合四羽を、例の通り御用人中へ小角に載せて差し出すよう御繕番衆へ上げるよう御沙汰があり、坊主衆を以て差し上げました。
二十日
一、御用初めにより同役五人が御城へ参り、丑年御貸付金勘定の帳面四冊を差し出し、とくと御披見いただきました。

New Year's Day, First Month
1. Clear weather. New Year's greetings of the highest formality.
We assembled and reported for duty at the hour of the Dragon (around 8 AM) to offer our respects. From this year, due to cost-cutting measures, we presented fans, but as there were some complications, the fan fee was reduced by half, with 13 copper coins each from the attendant guards collected through the care of the middle pages and inspectors.
11th day
1. As usual for the first day of official business, same-rank officials and subordinate Kyubei went to Kyuzaemon's residence. However, regarding official duties, from today we began the meeting for calculating loan accounts.
13th day
1. A letter from Lord Danemon was as follows:
"At this time, ducks have been sighted in the Kawanaga downstream area, so I believe nets should be sent out."

17th day
1. Today Sohei Isuke went out hunting small cranes. He returned on the evening of the 19th with one crane, two plovers, and one grebe - four birds in total. As usual, these were to be presented to the officials on small horns, and orders were given through the monk attendants to submit them to the repair guards.
20th day
1. For the first day of official business, five same-rank officials went to the castle and submitted four account books for the ox year loan calculations for thorough examination.
