...he was ordered to enter and participate in consultations with the administrators of the kaishō, construction department, and catering department, to negotiate with the relevant parties so that expenditures would be kept to a minimum, and to manage affairs in a manner beneficial to the domain.
One: In the fifth month of the same year, he had been informed that he was to be sent down to serve in the capacity of lodging allocation (yadowari) during the lord's visit to Kyoto and his return journey; however, as there were pressing official duties at this location (Edo) that would be seriously disrupted if he were to be removed, he was informed that he would be kept at this location instead. In the sixth month of the same year, the official duties in Kyoto were concluded and departure was made; in the seventh month, he returned.
One: In the ninth month of the same year, as the accounting office (go-kanjōsho) and the horse equipment storehouse (go-bagusō) were to conduct a sale of articles no longer in use, and since he had previously attended to official duties at those offices and was familiar with the quality and pricing of the goods there, he was ordered to enter and perform duties in connection with the said sale of goods.
**[Left folio]**
One: In the second month of Bunka 14 (Year of the Ox, 1817), during the repair and renovation works being carried out at the upper residence (kami-oyashiki), including the main hall, the attendants' quarters (o-tsugimuki), the long tenement quarters (o-nagaya), and various other locations during the Year of the Boar two years prior (Bunka 12, 1815), an unexpected summons to Edo (fuji go-sanpu) had occurred, and there were numerous urgent official duties to attend to. As he had served diligently and with careful attention, not only in matters of financial discipline and prevention of irregularities (shimari-suji) but in all things, he was rewarded with a grant of five ryō of silver.
