英語訳

**[Right folio]** (Continuing from the previous entry, regarding the completion of guard duties in Ezo-chi and the return to garrison:) He was granted an audience (o-memie) with the lord. - In the 12th month of the same year, having proceeded to Karafuto Island for the duty of guarding Ezo-chi, he engaged in several days of strenuous service there, including travel by both sea and land. As all duties were completed without delay and the entire force returned to garrison, he was presented with a formal meal (go-ryōri) at the castle. - In the same month, it was conveyed to him that, by order of the Tokugawa shogunate (kōgi), those among the dispatched personnel who had been stationed at Sōya and Karafuto — having toiled especially hard in such distant locations — were to receive an allowance of stipend rice (fuchi-mai). - In the 8th month of the 6th year of the same era (Mi, 1809), in connection with the guard duties in Ezo-chi, [he was appointed to manage] lodging allocations (o-yado-wari) for the troops **[Left folio]** along the route. As he applied himself diligently to his duties there, including various contingent matters, he was awarded a reward of three bu in gold (kin san-bu). Note: On the same day, it was recognized that he had served with exceptional effort in managing lodging allocations along the route to and from Ezo-chi, and that at Rūtaka in particular he had carried out a heavy load of duties related to construction oversight (o-fushin-kata) and financial administration (o-kanjō-kata), incurring personal expenses in the process. Accordingly, he was granted one ryō and two bu in gold (kin ichi-ryō ni-bu) as reimbursement for those expenses. - In the same month, he turned out for duties related to rope-marking of encampment boundaries (nawa-ei) and the allocation of quarters (koya-wari) at the time of the hunting exercise (oi-tori-gari), having reported for duty from two days prior to the event itself.
