大和本学（やまとほんざう）食物（しよくもつ）本草 六八（ろくはち）本学 日用食性（にちようしよくしやう）和漢三才図会（わかんさんさいづゑ）
その外（ほか）古今（ここん）能毒（のうどく）をあらはしゝ書（しよ）数多（あまた）有（あり）といへとも
あきらかならぬ草（さう）穀（こく）菜（さい）菓（くわ）魚（うを）鳥（とり）獣（けだもの）のうち爰（こゝ）に
十の一をあぐたとへは虎杖（いたどり）毒（どく）なしとも又毒有とも
丹黍（あかきひ）毒（どく）なしとも又毒有とも萵苣（ちさ）目（め）をあきらにか
すと有又人の目をくらますと有 銀杏（ぎんなん）毒なし又
毒（どく）有と云（いふ）鯰（なまづ）温（うん）といひ又寒と云毒なし又毒有と云 雉（きじ）
毒（どく）なし又毒有といふ雉（きじ）よく痔（ぢ）を治（ぢ）すといひ又 諸書（しよしよ）
に痔（ぢ）をはつすと有 狐（きつね）毒なし又毒有といふ如此（かくのごとく）説（せつ）も
区々（まち〳〵）なり右の書籍（しよしやく）皆（みな）漢字（かんじ）にして幼童（えうどう）にたより
ならす今（いま）こゝにあらはす所（ところ）の書（しよ）は数十家（すじつか）の説（せつ）を
現代語訳
『大和本草』、『食物本草』、『六八本草』、『日用食性』、『和漢三才図会』、その他古今の毒性について記した書物は数多くあるけれども、明確でない草・穀物・野菜・果物・魚・鳥・獣類のうち、ここにその十分の一を挙げてみよう。
例えば、虎杖（イタドリ）について、毒がないとする説もあれば毒があるとする説もある。丹黍（赤いキビ）についても毒がないとする説もあれば毒があるとする説もある。萵苣（チシャ）は目を明らかにするという説もあれば、人の目を曇らせるという説もある。銀杏は毒がないという説もあれば毒があるという説もある。鯰（ナマズ）は温性だという説もあれば寒性だという説もあり、毒がないという説もあれば毒があるという説もある。雉（キジ）は毒がないという説もあれば毒があるという説もある。雉はよく痔を治すという説もあれば、諸書には痔を悪化させるとある。狐は毒がないという説もあれば毒があるという説もある。このように説はまちまちである。
右に挙げた書籍はすべて漢字で書かれており、幼い子供には役に立たない。今ここに示す書物は数十家の説を

There are many works such as "Yamato Honzō," "Shokumotsu Honzō," "Rokuhachi Honzō," "Nichiyō Shokusei," and "Wakan Sansai Zue," as well as numerous other ancient and modern books that describe toxicity. However, among the unclear information about grasses, grains, vegetables, fruits, fish, birds, and beasts, here I present one-tenth of them as examples.
For instance, regarding Japanese knotweed (itadori), some say it is non-toxic while others claim it is toxic. Concerning red millet (akakibi), some say it is non-toxic while others say it is toxic. About lettuce (chisa), some say it clarifies the eyes while others say it clouds human vision. Ginkgo nuts are said to be non-toxic by some and toxic by others. Catfish (namazu) is described as warm-natured by some and cold-natured by others, non-toxic by some and toxic by others. Pheasant (kiji) is said to be non-toxic by some and toxic by others. Pheasant is said to cure hemorrhoids well by some, while various books state that it causes hemorrhoids. Fox is said to be non-toxic by some and toxic by others. Thus, the explanations vary considerably.
The aforementioned books are all written in Chinese characters and are not useful for young children. The book presented here now combines the theories of dozens of schools
