兼而内稽古等致出精候故《見せ消ち：与｜之》義と
被 思召之旨相組一同御賞美

一 寛政九巳年四月御貸金借
用之義ニ付高木源右衛門ㇸ及懸
合候次第は勿論右一件ニ付三坂
九右衛門下条友弥及懸合候次第
共に彼者申《見せ消ち：候｜口》とは廉ニ違却ニ候
得とも糺之上右掛合之事跡
其方申口於道理実事と相
見候処源右衛門義仮令組頭ニ不
似合儀と申候共公私絶交之
義上ゟ御言被置候組頭ㇸ対し
公私之用事得御意間敷旨
申候段上を不憚申方ニ有之其上
腹立之余不申出候由ニは候得とも
右断ニ及候跡ニて一己御貸金之義
申出候儀も有之候段麁忽之至
旁以不相当候条組付被召放御
知行之内弐拾石被 召上之旨被

九右衛門・下条友弥へ懸け合い候次第、
共に彼の者の申し口とは廉（かど）に違却に候
えども、糺したる上、右掛合いの事跡、
その方の申し口は道理・実事と相
見え候ところ、源右衛門の義、仮令（たとい）組頭に不
似合いの儀と申し候とも、公私絶交の
義、上より御言い置かれ候組頭へ対し、
公私の用事、御意を得まじき旨
申し候段、上を憚らざる申し方にこれあり、その上
腹立ての余り申し出ざる由にては候えども、
右断りに及び候跡にて一己に御貸金の義
申し出で候儀もこれあり候段、麁忽（そこつ）の至り、
旁（かたがた）もって不相当に候条、組付きを召し放され、御
知行のうち弐拾石を召し上げられる旨を

One entry: In the fourth month of Kansei 9, the year of the Snake (1797), regarding the matter of borrowing a domain loan (御貸金), the circumstances of his negotiations with Takagi Gen'emon, as well as the circumstances of his negotiations with Misaka Kuemon and Shimojo Tomoya regarding the same matter, were all contrary to what those persons had stated in their accounts. However, upon investigation, the record of said negotiations and your [i.e., the subject's] account were found to be reasonable and truthful.
Nevertheless, concerning Gen'emon: even if one were to argue that [his conduct] was unbecoming of a unit commander (組頭), the matter of completely severing all public and private relations—and his statement that he would not seek an audience [with his superior] regarding either public or private affairs with the unit commander who had been given instructions from above—constitutes an insubordinate manner of speech. Furthermore, although it is said that he did not come forward [with his complaint] due to an excess of anger, the fact that after refusing [to deal with the matter], he subsequently came forward independently regarding the domain loan matter amounts to gross negligence. As this is altogether inappropriate, he was dismissed from his unit assignment, and it was decreed that twenty koku were to be confiscated from his stipend—
