たちいてゝ三四足蹴之又けりの下へ立入て衣文
かきつくろひたるいみしく見ゆ木四本のたゝしき
中にて一人蹴之時のこり七人わか木のもとすか
さす立へし木の外へまりのいつるとき追懸て
一人まかれはのこり七人聊立動なり其式鞠圖
に見ゆへし又向措ゆめ〳〵木の外にてつむ
へからすかさねつめ四五尺よりてつむへし巽の
かゝりに鞠のかゝるとき乾の人両人の中にむねと
ある一人つめて蹴之巽の木のもとをぬけいてゝかゝり
の　を　はりてもとの座敷のいぬ井の木の本へうつりたる
このたつみの木と其　に立待人との中とをゝす
人と人との中をとをるへしかさねつめまた措よりて
蹴之　　たつみの木にめむかひつめのける時は
木の本に立人はふかく立入　也《割書：南のよ　し｜　のきた｜》なる人
一丈はかりもつめよりて西の　《割書：坤のすみ｜》にたつ人　
の西まてまさりてつめよるへし　の東に立人是
におなし又向つめの本意はかりのもとより蹴い
るゝまりをう　をとりて　てかさねつめにも又

現代語訳

立ち出でて三四足蹴り、また蹴りの下へ立ち入って衣文をかき繕ったのが非常に良く見える。木四本の正しき中にて一人蹴る時、残り七人は我が木の元を隙かさず立つべし。木の外へ鞠の出る時、追いかけて一人任せれば、残り七人は少し立ち動くなり。その式は鞠図に見えるべし。また向措は決して木の外にて詰むべからず。重ね詰めは四五尺寄りて詰むべし。巽の掛かりに鞠の掛かる時、乾の人両人の中に胸とある一人詰めて蹴り、巽の木の元を抜け出でて掛かりの終わりて元の座敷の戌亥の木の本へ移ったる。この辰巳の木とその（場所）に立ち待つ人との中を通す。人と人との中を通るべし。重ね詰めまた措寄りて蹴り、辰巳の木に面向かい詰め除ける時は、木の本に立つ人は深く立ち入るなり。南の良し（場所）の北なる人は一丈ばかりも詰め寄りて、西の（坤の隅）に立つ人の西まで勝りて詰め寄るべし。（場所）の東に立つ人はこれにおなじ。また向詰めの本意は、（場所）の元より蹴り入る鞠を受け取りて（渡して）重ね詰めにもまた（続く）。

英語訳

One steps forward and kicks three or four times, then enters beneath the kick and adjusts one's clothing - this appears very graceful. When one person kicks in the proper center of the four trees, the remaining seven people should stand without gaps at the base of their respective trees. When the ball goes outside the trees, if one person pursues it and takes charge, the remaining seven people move slightly. This form should be visible in the kemari diagrams. Also, in direction measures (mukō-tsume), one must never position oneself outside the trees. In layered positioning (kasane-tsume), one should position oneself four to five shaku closer. When the ball catches on the southeast (tatsumi) corner, one person among the two at the northwest (inui) position centers himself, positions closely, and kicks. He exits through the base of the southeast tree, and when the sequence ends, moves to the base of the northwest tree in the original seating area. The ball should pass through the space between this southeast tree and the person waiting there. It should pass between people. In layered positioning, one again approaches and kicks. When facing the southeast tree and positioning to kick, the person standing at the base of the tree enters deeply. The person to the north of the southern good position approaches about one jō, and should position closer than the person standing at the western corner (southwest corner), extending to their west. The person standing to the east of that position does the same. Also, the true intention of direction positioning is to receive the ball kicked from the base of the position and pass it on to layered positioning as well...
