　又まりにあたりつかぬ人にけやりて一二足けさする
　是第一の法しりたる人也三足我もとにて蹴事
　か本儀也式にも人のまりをうけとる一足我分に
　一足人のもとへやるまり一足あわせて三足蹴事
　本儀也四足にあるときたかくなかくこふとる
　けり又簷の方ならすともいつれのすみにても
　木の殊勝ならんを賞玩して上首堪能の人
　立事流例也又鞠により木につきて下さまの　
　人の宿人貴人のおはする事あり庭まては
　いかならん所なりともくるしみあるへからす堂上をしと
　おもふとき車の内にて足をしたしめて鞠場すゝ
　むも時亭主この人は堂上すへからすと心えて拓
　請すへからぬなりかならす家主この法をしるへし
　又未練ならん上臈二人さてはいかゝはせん三人に
　ならは其日の　をおもひとまるへしと要畧抄
　に云り其振舞口傳あるへし

一足踏事
　古今の人三拍子さては心え侍れとふみ様みな

現代語訳

また鞠に当たりつかない人に蹴りやって一、二足蹴らせる。これが第一の法を知っている人である。三足我が元にて蹴ることが本義である。式にも「人の鞠を受け取る一足、我が分に一足、人の元へやる鞠一足、合わせて三足蹴ることが本義である」とある。四足になる時は高く、長く請い取る蹴りである。また軒の方でなくとも、いずれの隅でも木の殊勝なものを賞玩して上首・堪能の人が立つことは流例である。また鞠により木につきて、下様の人が宿人・貴人のおわすることがある。庭まではいかなる所なりとも苦しみがあるべきではない。堂上を恥ずかしいと思う時、車の内にて足を慣らして鞠場に進むのも時によっては、亭主が「この人は堂上にすべきではない」と心得て、拓請すべきではない。必ず家主がこの法を知るべきである。また未練な上臈二人、さてはいかがせん、三人になれば、その日の［何か］を思い止まるべしと『要略抄』に言っている。その振る舞いには口伝があるべきである。

Also, when kicking the ball to someone who cannot catch or handle it well, one should let them kick it once or twice. This shows one who knows the primary rule. Kicking three times at one's own position is the fundamental principle. The rules also state: "Receiving another person's ball is one kick, one kick for oneself, and one kick to send the ball to another person - kicking three times in total is the fundamental principle." When it becomes four kicks, it should be a high, long requesting kick. Also, not only at the eaves side, but at any corner, appreciating and standing near particularly excellent trees is the established custom for the highest-ranking and most skilled people. Also, depending on the ball and the trees, there are times when people of lower status, guests, and nobles are present. Up to the garden area, no matter what kind of place it may be, there should be no difficulties. When feeling ashamed about court rank, sometimes one advances to the kickball court after limbering up one's feet in the carriage, but the host should understand that "this person should not be treated as court nobility" and should not extend invitations inappropriately. The head of household must know this rule. Also, regarding two inexperienced court ladies - what should be done then? If there are three people, one should reconsider [something] for that day, as stated in the "Yōryaku-shō." There should be oral traditions regarding such behavior.
