**光る丸太夫（ひかるまるたゆう）**
奥様はもみじを引き連れて、お立ち退きで逃げゆく時の泣くぞ悲しき。
**きせん法師（きせんほうし）**
わが家は土蔵の隣、しかも住み良さそうにつぶれたと人は言うなり。

歩くにも手足がふるえ、目はまわる。わが身には汗をかくらむ。
**山部赤人（やまべのあかひと）**

かが様が一手で本郷・裏通りの残るを見れば、よく消し止めにけり。

**陽成院（ようぜいいん）**
つくばいて逃げる先よりも、塀倒し、からだはこげて黒くなりぬる。
**参議高村（さんぎたかむら）**
かかあの腹に乗りて、地震はよけれども、この地震では金が釣り船（沈む）。

Together let us share in pity — for the burn victims and the dead, there is nowhere else to go but into those pits (mass graves).
**Sosei Hōshi (Parody of Sosei Hōshi)**
People sleep outdoors night after night, waiting only for the moment when someone cries: "It's shaking again!"

Crouching down to flee, one ends up beyond even the fallen walls, body scorched and turned black.

Riding on the wife's belly — while the earthquake may be survivable, this particular quake has sent one's money to the bottom of the sea (like a capsized boat).
