右両国の人信州へくだり此事をまな
せしといふ聞書（キキカキ）岩村田 在（ザイ）の茂作といふ
者の所に今にあり堂は山より西の麓也
柳の井より壱丁ほど東に女人堂あり貞
享年中に武州江戸神田之者三人にて此
堂にやすみしきりにくろ雲出大雨風ふき
来り東西をうしなひたりまもなく雲（クモ）ちり
て見れば三人の者壱人のこり弐人はゆきかた
しれずぜひなく麓まで下（クダ）り見れば
右弐人ひきさかれてありしといふ又 常陸（ヒタチ）
の土浦（ツチウラ）のもの四人連（ツレ）にて此山に参詣せん
とて遠見（トウミ）坂まで登（ノボ）り東小浅間の峯
にてはなしの声きこへたり見ればせい壱
丈 余（ヨ）の僧（ソウ）しろきゆかたを着（キ）て五人 登（ノボ）り

右の両国（奥州と甲州）の人々は信州へ下り、このことを知らせたという。その聞き書きは、岩村田在の茂作という者のところに今も残っている。堂は山より西の麓にある。柳の井より一丁ほど東に女人堂がある。貞享年中に、武州江戸神田の者三人がこの堂で休んでいると、しきりに黒雲が出て大雨と風が吹いてきて、東西の方角も分からなくなった。間もなく雲が散って見れば、三人のうち一人が残り、二人は行方知れずとなっていた。やむを得ず麓まで下りて見ると、その二人は引き裂かれていたという。また、常陸の土浦の者四人連れでこの山に参詣しようとして、遠見坂まで登り、東小浅間の峯にて話し声が聞こえた。見れば、背丈一丈余りの僧が白い浴衣を着て五人登り……

The people from both provinces (Ōshū and Kōshū) went down to Shinshū and reported this matter. The written record of this account still exists today at the home of a man called Mosaku, in the countryside around Iwamurota. The hall (dō) is located at the western foot of the mountain. About one chō east of Yanagi-no-i (Willow Well), there is the Nyonin-dō (Women's Hall). During the Jōkyō era, three men from Kanda in Edo, Musashi Province, were resting in this hall when dark clouds repeatedly appeared, and great rain and wind came upon them, leaving them unable to distinguish east from west. Shortly after the clouds cleared, only one of the three remained; the other two had vanished without a trace. Having no choice, they descended to the foot of the mountain, where they found the two men had been torn apart. Furthermore, four people from Tsuchiura in Hitachi Province, traveling together on a pilgrimage to this mountain, climbed as far as Tōmi-zaka, where they heard the sound of voices at the peak of Higashi-Ko-Asama.
