おろしてうなばらをかきさがし給ふ鉾（ホコ）
を引あげそのしたかこりかたまつて一ッ

ぼり巌石（イワヲ）をたいらげ自草（ミヅカラクサ）の堂（ドウ）をか

現代語訳
（前ページより続き）鉾を下ろして海原をかき探しなさった。鉾を引き上げると、その滴りが固まって一つの島となった。天地が分かれて陰陽の始まりとなり、葦原の国（日本）となった。これは天神七代目の御神のことである。
人王七代・孝霊天皇の御代、辛未元年に、近江の国の地が裂けて、一夜のうちに湖（琵琶湖）となった。この時、富士山が生じたと言われている。
信州・浅間ヶ嶽については、持統天皇九年（695年）、役の行者がこの山に登られた。東北の山中に柳の井という井戸があり、そこに黒い蛇が棲みついて毒水を吐いていた。行者はこれを怪しみ、本尊に祈誓し、利剣をもってこれを退治した。それより峰に登り、巌石を平らげ、自ら草の堂を構えて勤行した。すると百鬼の類が来てひざまずいた。

(Continuing from the previous page) [Izanagi and Izanami] lowered the jeweled spear and stirred the ocean depths. When they lifted the spear, the droplets that fell from it congealed and formed a single island. Heaven and earth separated, marking the beginning of yin and yang, and this became the Land of Reed Plains (Japan). This pertains to the seventh generation of heavenly deities.
During the reign of Kōrei, the seventh human emperor, in the first year of the Kanoto-Hitsuji (辛未) era, the land of Ōmi split apart and became a lake (Lake Biwa) in a single night. It is said that Mount Fuji emerged at this same time.
Regarding Asama-ga-take in Shinano Province: in the ninth year of Empress Jitō's reign (695 CE), En no Gyōja climbed this mountain. In the mountains to the northeast, there was a well called the Willow Well (Yanagi no I), where a black serpent dwelt and spewed poisonous water. The ascetic found this suspicious, and praying to the principal deity, he used a sharp sword to subdue it. He then climbed to the peak, leveled the rocky crags, built a grass hall with his own hands, and performed his religious practices. Thereupon, a host of hundred demons came and prostrated themselves before him.
