峯北（ミ子キタ）に鬼（ヲ二）の岩屋 東（ヒガシ）に遠見（トウミ）坂 金亀（コンキノ）岩
山は神変無明（ジンベンムミヤウ）の山なり外（ソト）のはま内（ウチ）のはま
あり其後久しくたへてのぼる人なし弘安（コウアン）
四年六月九日の暮（クレ）かた山より西に黄（キ）なる
雲（クモ）出てみな人 草木（ソウモク）までこんじきの光（ヒカ）り
うつる同夜（ドウヨ）四ッ時 焼出（ヤケダ）し信州 追分（ヲイワケ）小 室（ムロ）
より南へ四里余の間 灰砂（ハイスナ）ふり火石今に
あり北は山の麓（フモト）まで押出し今にこの所（トコロ）
石と満りといふ誠に昔より焼山なるか
一文明元年三月十日越前の国 松葉（マツバ）のせう
といふ所より僧（ソウ）壱人来り此山にのぼり一 夜（ヤ）あ
かせりその夜いろ〳〵ふしぎのれいむをけふ
現代語訳
すなわち福満（ふくまん）虚空蔵（こくうぞう）が昼夜にわたって来りて守護（宿衛）したという。西北の方には無間（むけん）の谷があり、南の方には剣（けん）の峯、北には鬼の岩屋、東には遠見坂・金亀岩がある。この山は神変不可思議（神変無明）の山である。外の浜、内の浜がある。その後、長い間絶えて登る人がいなかった。弘安四年（1281年）六月九日の夕方、山の西に黄色い雲が現れ、すべての人や草木にまで金色の光が映った。同じ夜の四つ時（午後十時頃）に山が噴火し始め、信州追分・小室より南へ四里余りの間に灰や砂が降り、火石が今も残っている。北は山の麓まで溶岩や噴出物が押し出し、今もその場所は石で満ちているという。まことに昔より焼山（噴火山）であることよ。
文明元年（1469年）三月十日、越前の国の松葉の庄という所から僧侶が一人来て、この山に登り、一夜を明かした。その夜、いろいろと不思議な霊夢（れいむ）を受けた。

It is said that Fukuman Kokuzo (the Bodhisattva Akasagarbha) came day and night to serve as a guardian. To the northwest lies the Valley of Mugen (the Abyss), to the south is the Peak of the Sword, to the north is the Cave of the Demons, and to the east are the Tomi Slope and Konki Rock. This mountain is a place of mysterious and miraculous divine transformation. There are the Outer Shore and the Inner Shore. After that, for a long time, no one climbed the mountain.
On the evening of the ninth day of the sixth month of the fourth year of Koan (1281), a yellow cloud appeared to the west of the mountain, and a golden light shone upon all people, plants, and trees. That same night, at the Hour of the Pig (around 10 p.m.), the mountain began to erupt. Ash and sand fell over a distance of more than four ri (approximately 16 km) south of Oiwake and Komuro in Shinano Province, and the volcanic rocks remain to this day. To the north, the eruption's flow reached the foot of the mountain, and even now that area is said to be covered with stones. Truly, this has been a volcanic mountain since ancient times.
On the tenth day of the third month of the first year of Bunmei (1469), a monk came from a place called Matsuba-no-sho in Echizen Province, climbed this mountain, and spent the night. That night, he received various mysterious divine dreams.
