先祖後藤兵衛実基十三代の後裔であるという系図・覚書を所持している。曾祖父平尾孫兵衛藤則という者が京極丹後守殿に仕え、丹後田辺にいたという。その子平尾太兵衛茂則は、大坂の陣の際に暇をもらって丹後を立ち退き、道中で細川玄蕃殿に目見えし、大坂の陣の供をして勤めた。そこで玄蕃殿より知行百五十石を給与され、その判物を今でも所持している。その子平尾弥一右衛門元則は、父太兵衛の跡知を相続したが、その後暇をもらって江戸にいた。当代新五兵衛則偶の父である。

He possesses genealogical records and memoranda stating that his ancestor Gotō Hyōe Sanemoto was a descendant of the thirteenth generation. His great-grandfather, called Hirao Magobei Fujinori, served Lord Kyōgoku Tango-no-kami and resided in Tanabe in Tango Province. His son, Hirao Tahei Shigenori, took leave during the Siege of Osaka, departed from Tango, had an audience with Lord Hosokawa Genba on the road, and served as an attendant during the Osaka campaigns. Lord Genba granted him a stipend of 150 koku, and the certificate is still in his possession. His son, Hirao Yaichirōemon Motonori, inherited his father Tahei's position but later took leave and resided in Edo. He was the father of the current Shingobei Noritomo.
