先祖之儀下野国山田之城主山田下総守ト申者本氏ハ宇
都宮ニテ候ヘ共庶子ニ候故家法ニ随ヒ他氏ヲ称シ候由
承伝候其子山田右近儀後藤兵衛ト改候 秀康公御代御
招被遊ニ付越前エ罷越候処本多伊豆守方エ罷越御先手
可相勤之旨被 仰渡赤見佃安保市村安西右ノ者共ト一
所ニ府中エ罷越一番組ノ番頭相勤慶長十七壬子年久世
但馬御成敗之節代々用来候惣黒地ノ指物鷺毛之陣羽織
等着用仕御用相勤鉄炮創被之候其子山田弥五左衛門後
塩谷藤兵衛ト申候者父藤兵衛創ヲ被リ候故番頭役ヲ右
弥五左衛門相勤候其後大坂御陣両年共ニ相勤於茶臼山

先祖のことについて、下野国山田の城主山田下総守という者の本氏は宇都宮であったが、庶子であったため家法に従って他氏を称したと承り伝えている。その子山田右近は後に後藤兵衛と改名した。秀康公の御代にお招きを受けて越前へ参ったところ、本多伊豆守のもとへ出向き、御先手を勤めるよう仰せ渡された。赤見、佃、安保、市村、安西といった者たちと一緒に府中へ向かい、一番組の番頭を勤めた。慶長十七壬子年（1612年）久世但馬成敗の際、代々使用してきた総黒地の指物、鷺毛の陣羽織などを着用して御用を勤め、鉄砲創を負った。その子山田弥五左衛門、後に塩谷藤兵衛という者は、父藤兵衛が創を負ったため、この弥五左衛門が番頭役を勤めた。その後、大坂の陣両年ともに勤め、茶臼山辺りで首一級を討ち取って差し上げた。正保元年（1644年）、松平大和守様が大野の城を

Regarding his ancestors, there was a castle lord of Yamada in Shimotsuke Province called Yamada Shimōsa-no-kami, whose original clan was Utsunomiya, but being a secondary son, he adopted another surname according to family law, as has been passed down. His son Yamada Ukon later changed his name to Gotō Hyōe. During Lord Hideyasu's era, when invited to serve, he came to Echizen Province. He went to Honda Izu-no-kami and was ordered to serve in the advance guard. Together with Akami, Tsukuda, Ambo, Ichimura, Anzai and others, he went to Fuchū and served as captain (banchō) of the first unit. In the 17th year of Keichō, year of the Water Rat (1612), during the punishment of Kuze Tajima, he wore the hereditary all-black insignia banners and heron-feathered battle coats and served in official duties, receiving a gunshot wound. His son, Yamada Yagozaemon, later called Shioya Tōbei, took over the captain's role because his father Tōbei had been wounded.
