養父上坂太兵衛勝元という者は、光通公の御代に召し出された。先祖のことについては、上坂与三右衛門と同じ源で、左衛門が代々朝倉家に奉仕していた。その家が没落した後、浪人となって当家の在辺に引きこもっていたということである。才右衛門の実父は小島平左衛門といい、堀尾山城守殿の家の浪人であった。奈良左近右衛門高沖の従弟であったので、身上のことを頼み、当国へ参って浪人として一生を終えた。

His adoptive father, called Uesaka Tahei Katsumoto, was summoned in the era of Lord Mitsumichi. Regarding his ancestors, they were of the same origin as Uesaka Yozaemon, with Saemon serving the Asakura family for generations. After that house fell, he became a rōnin and withdrew to live in the vicinity of this domain. Saiemon's actual father was called Kojima Heizaemon, who was a rōnin from the house of Lord Horio Yamashiro-no-kami. Being a cousin of Nara Sakon'emon Takamitsu, he relied on him for support in his circumstances, came to this province, and ended his life as a rōnin.
