英語訳
He exchanged words with the hatamoto messenger Honda San'ya as proof, and quickly
reported the details of his service to the lord's attention. Afterwards, he was summoned before both Shogun lords, granted sake cups,
received two commendation letters, a horse, and gold. Furthermore, Lord Gongen stood up from his seat and
gave gracious words to the effect: "He engaged in the first spear thrust, and his conduct on the battlefield, particularly taking down an independent
commander and taking his head, plus his seven days of service - all are incomparable." Honda San'ya
reported these details to the lord's attention, and he was deeply moved. At that time, in the waiting chamber, Lord Doi
Ōi-no-kami and Lord Aoyama Ōkura were present and heard these circumstances, saying "The present
lord's words are not ordinary matters, but befitting a warrior's divine favor," and they envied him,
requesting sake from Tomotaka and drinking with him, as it has been passed down. His son Hatta Kinemon Tomo-
aki was the third son of the aforementioned Tomotaka. During the Kan'ei era, he entered
service under Ii Yukie-no-suke Naoshige, and when Naoshige went into seclusion at Hyakusaiji Temple in Gōshū, he served him throughout, and after his death
became a ronin, but was summoned during Lord Mitsumichi's reign.
Granted family headship in the 3rd year of Jōkyō (1686, Year of the Fire Tiger) during Lord Yoshishina's reign
Adopted son
Hatta Kinemon Eiji《birthplace: Ōmi, Buddhist name: Kinchū|real father: elder brother of Tomoaki, Hatta Sakon-emon Tomona, monk Suisei》
Granted family headship in the 2nd year of Kyōhō (1717, Year of the Fire Rooster) during Lord Yoshikuni's reign
Current Hatta Kinzaburō Eijō《birthplace: Echizen》
Regarding ancestral military achievements, during Lord Mitsumichi's reign there was an inquiry to
grandfather Kinemon Tomoaki, and he submitted a written report. Later, there was an official inquiry to Lord Ii Kamon-no-kami regarding matters
from the Osaka Campaign, so written reports about ancestral
achievements were submitted by those of the same name residing in Hikone, as we have heard. The commendation letters and other old evidence
are preserved by the main family residing in Hikone, so we possess only copies.
