At that time, he went as an envoy from Lord Mutsu-no-kami to Lord Izu-no-kami. On the 28th day of the second month, relying on Masamoto's uncle named Ogasawara Bizen within Lord Hosokawa Higo-no-kami's retinue, he joined Higo-no-kami's forces and performed castle assault at the main gate of the honmaru, achieving distinction under spear combat. Subsequently, a man named Yoshioka Rokunosuke from Lord Mizuno Hyūga-no-kami's retinue also achieved distinction in castle assault, so they identified each other within the castle and returned to their quarters to exchange certificates of proof. On the same day, he performed castle assault twice in total. For both occasions, he obtained documentary evidence from Matsuzaki Sukeuemon of Lord Hosokawa Higo-no-kami's retinue. After the fall of Shimabara, he received an increase in stipend from Lord Mutsu-no-kami and served with a stipend of 960 koku.
