又左衛門父針重大学ハ長尾景勝手ニ属シ領弐万石百騎
ノ士大将ニテ出城ヲ預リ候数度ノ武功有之福禄寿ヲ鍪
ニ仕ル出立ニ候ヲ敵陣ニ称美仕遠矢ヲ以テ射候事ヲ可
許ト申之由申伝候桔梗原ト申所ニ野陣ヲ取候節霊夢ヲ
蒙リ候子細有之而称号ヲ木滑ト改ム子孫今以上杉家ニ
罷有候又左衛門兄木滑金左衛門人ヲ討上杉家ヲ立退於
越前太田安房方エ罷越之処 忠昌公御代被召出長松様
御抱守ニ被為附候処御早世ニ付其後 吉品公エ御附被
成御代々御奉公仕候処右金左衛門孫理左衛門御暇被下
本家ハ断絶仕候又左衛門儀ハ奥州米沢ヲ立退兄金左衛

又左衛門の父針重大学は長尾景勝に仕え、領地二万石、百騎
の士大将として出城を預かっていた。数度の武功があり、福禄寿を兜
の飾りとした出立であったため、敵陣がこれを称美し、遠矢をもって射ることを
許可すると申し出たということが申し伝えられている。桔梗原という場所で野陣を
構えた際に霊夢を蒙った事情があって、称号を木滑と改めた。子孫は今でも上杉家に
仕えている。又左衛門の兄木滑金左衛門は人を討って上杉家を立ち退き、
越前の太田安房のもとへ来たところ、忠昌公の御代に召し出されて長松様の
御抱え守に付けられたが、御早世のためその後吉品公にお付けになり、
代々御奉公していたところ、右の金左衛門の孫理左衛門が御暇を下され、
本家は断絶した。又左衛門は奥州米沢を立ち退いて兄金左衛
門のもとへ来たのを召し出され、高照院様《吉品公の御母公》の御家老を仰せ付けられた。

Matazaemon's father, Harishige Daigaku, served Nagao Kagekatsu with a domain of 20,000 koku and as a commander of one hundred horsemen,
entrusted with an outpost castle. He had numerous military achievements and wore Fukurokuju as a helmet
ornament in his battle dress. It is said that the enemy camp admired this and requested
permission to shoot at him with long-range arrows. When he made camp at a place called Kikyōhara,
he had a divine dream for certain reasons and changed his title to Kinameri. His descendants still serve
the Uesugi family today. Matazaemon's elder brother, Kinameri Kinzaemon, killed a man and left the Uesugi family,
coming to Ōta Awa in Echizen Province. He was summoned during Lord Tadamasa's reign and appointed as
guard to Lord Nagamatsu, but due to the lord's early death, he was later assigned to Lord Yoshishina
and served for generations. However, Kinzaemon's grandson Risaemon was granted leave,
and the main family line was discontinued. Matazaemon left Yonezawa in Ōshū Province and came to his elder brother Kinza-
emon, whereupon he was summoned and appointed as chief retainer to Lady Kōshōin《Lord Yoshishina's mother》.
