〔前頁より続く〕……およそ四千尺より五千尺に及んでいる。それゆえ避暑のための最良の地とされる。すべての水には硫黄の臭いがある。この浴泉は、往昔、源頼朝が入浴したことにより大いに有名となった。 **同(マ)四万(しま)村** 食塩を含有するため鹹味(かんみ・塩味)あり。 この泉の主成分は食塩・硫酸「ソジューム」(硫酸ナトリウム)等であって、解凝・変質・催下・制酸の能力があるため、以下の諸病に効あり。 > 【内服にて効を得べき病】 > 胃弱(いじゃく) 消食不良(こなれあしきもの) 貧血症(ちのとぼしきしょう) 肝臓病 習慣性便秘 > 右の病者は内服して効を得べし。ただし服量は毎回一盞より三盞に至るべし。 > 【外浴にて効を得べき病】 > 慢性皮膚病 頑固なリウマチス 脱臼・挫傷によって生じる四肢関節(てあしふしぶし)の痿痺(しびれ) > 右の病者は外浴して効を得べし。 神経痛には内外ともに服用して効を得べし。ただし服量は前同。 --- **同(地)鹿沢(かざわ)** 田代村にあり。泉質は未詳。頭痛・疝積・中風・留飲に宜し。かつ草木の萎(しお)れたものを蘇らせる。 **同(一)河原** 河原湯村にあり。泉質は硫酸石灰・礬土・苦土・塩酸・硫化水素ガスを含み、疥癬・リウマチスの痛みに宜し。 **同(一)河中** 松谷村にあり。硫酸石灰・礬土・苦土・塩酸亜爾加里(アルカリ)を含む。諸種の潰瘍(ただれもの)・疥癬に宜し。 **同(地)鳩(はと)湯** 本宿村にあり。泉質は硫黄・礬の二気を含む。金創(切り傷)に宜し。 **同(□)湯ケ島** 猿ケ京村にあり。泉質は硫酸石灰・礬土・塩酸苦土を含む。主治は疝痛・疥癬・リウマチス・梅毒・癩病(らいびょう)等に宜し。 **同(地)法師嶺(ほうしとうげ)** 永井村にあり。逆上(のぼせ)に宜し。 **同(地)(ラ)久保** 湯宿村にあり。中風等に宜し。○薬師:眼疾に宜し。○小滝:疣贅(いぼ)に宜し。(ラ)○(一)温度百四十五度。泉質は硫黄ならびにガスを含み、無味無臭であるが白き沈殿物ありという。泉水は古き火山石より湧出し、その量は一分間におよそ二斗五升ばかり。○(二)同百三十一度。湧出の量はおよそ一斗二升。その他は同上。○(三)同百十五度。ただガスを含まないのみで、その他は皆同上。 **同(□)上沢渡(かみさわたり)** 上沢渡村にあり。泉質は硫酸石灰・塩酸苦土・礬土なり。梅毒・潰瘍(ただれもの)・疥癬に宜し。 **同(地)万座(まんざ)** 万座山の麓にあり。硫黄・丹礬を含む。留飲・疝気に宜し。 **同(一)花敷(はなしき)** 入山村にあり。硫酸石灰・礬土・塩酸鉄を含む。疥癬・腫物等に宜し。 **同(一)御坂湯** 吹路村にあり。泉質は未詳。寸白(すんぱく・条虫)・火傷・切り傷に宜し。 **同(一)布施湯** 布施村にあり。泉質・治効ともに未詳。 --- **唯氷郡(一)(ラ)入(いり)之湯** 坂本宿にあり。硫気……〔次頁へ続く〕

All waters carry the smell of sulfur. These hot springs became widely famous owing to the fact that Minamoto no Yoritomo bathed here in ancient times. **Same (Surveyed) Shima Village (四万)** Has a saline taste due to its salt content. The principal components of this spring are common salt, sodium sulfate (*sojūmu*), and others; by virtue of its resolvent, alterative, laxative, and antacid properties, it is effective for the following conditions: > **[Conditions benefited by internal use]** > Weak stomach Indigestion ("things that do not digest well") Anemia ("condition of insufficient blood") Liver disease Habitual constipation > Those suffering from the above conditions should take it internally for benefit. The dose per occasion should be from one *san* to three *san*. > **[Conditions benefited by external bathing]** > Chronic skin diseases Stubborn rheumatism Numbness and weakness of the limbs and joints (*te-ashi-fushi-bushi*) arising from dislocation or contusion > Those suffering from the above conditions should take external baths for benefit. For neuralgia, both internal and external use should be employed for benefit. Dosage as above. --- **Same (Local) Kazawa (鹿沢)** Located in Tashiro Village. Spring quality unknown. Recommended for headache, colic accumulation, stroke, and retained fluids (*ryūin*). Also said to revive withered plants and grasses. **Same (Category 1) Kawara** Located in Kawara-yu Village. Spring quality contains calcium sulfate, alum earth, bitter earth, hydrochloric acid, and hydrogen sulfide gas. Recommended for scabies and rheumatic pain. **Same (Category 1) Kawanaka** Located in Matsutani Village. Contains calcium sulfate, alum earth, bitter earth, and hydrochloric alkali. Recommended for various types of ulcers and scabies. **Same (Local) Hato-yu (Dove Bath)** Located in Motoschuku Village. Spring quality contains sulfur and alum vapors. Recommended for sword wounds and cuts (*kinshō*). **Same (Category □) Yuga-shima** Located in Sarugakyō Village. Spring quality contains calcium sulfate, alum earth, and magnesium chloride. Principal indications: colic pain, scabies, rheumatism, syphilis, leprosy, and other conditions. **Same (Local) Hōshi-tōge (法師嶺)** Located in Nagai Village.
