Shimotsuke Tsuga District (Lower grade) (Miscellaneous) Chuzenji-yu (Also called) Yumoto Located in Mount Nikko, about 6 ri northwest of Hanaiwa-juku, about 3 ri from Chuzenji. Spring quality contains sulfur gas.
(1) Gosho-yu (Lower grade) Temperature 140 degrees, spring quality is clear, tasteless and odorless. Effective for various wounds, scabies, bruises, hemorrhoids, burns, and said to have strengthening effects. ○ (Ma) Therapeutic effects similar to Izu Atami Mushio-yu. See leaf 8.
(2) Naka-no-yu Temperature 108 degrees or 118 degrees, spring quality has no odor but very acidic and contains much sulfur. Therapeutic effects similar to Izu Atami Oyu. See leaf 9.
(3) Taki-no-yu Same at 99 degrees or 118 degrees, tasteless, odorless, therapeutic effects same as above
(4) Uba-no-yu Same at 103 degrees or 149 degrees or 133 degrees, spring quality clear, tasteless, odorless, therapeutic effects same as above
(5) Sasa-yu Same at 145 degrees or 129 degrees, clear, odorless, bitter taste, therapeutic effects same as above
(6) Jizai-yu Same at 151 degrees or 156 degrees, spring quality clear with slight acidity. Also called Arayu ○ (Miscellaneous) Therapeutic effects: stroke, headache, tapeworm, phlegm, abdominal pain, back pain, but bad for jaundice
(7) Yakushi-yu (Also called) Junshi-yu Same at 106 degrees or 99 degrees, therapeutic effects same as above, (Miscellaneous) eye diseases, rush of blood to head, tapeworm, scabies, hemorrhoids, measles, back pain, atrophy, abdominal pain, weak stomach
(8) Hadaka-yu Same at 136 degrees, spring quality clear, contains sulfur gas and has acidic taste
(9) Kawara-yu (Ma) Temperature 120 degrees or 135 degrees, saline spring containing small amount of sulfur, should be forbidden for skin diseases, epilepsy, intestinal distension, etc. ○ (Miscellaneous) Therapeutic effects: hernia, tapeworm, abdominal pain cancer, hemorrhoids, measles, malaria, parasites, phlegm, weakness, but forbidden for jaundice
Shioya District (La) Kawaji Located on the bank of Ikari River in Kawaji Village, original spring has temperature of 109 degrees, spring quality has much gas but no sulfur gas. Spring water volume gushes 1 cubic shaku per second. Also 1-2 ken downstream from the original spring there is another spring with temperature of 105 degrees, output half of the original spring and contains small amount of gas ○ (Locality) Temperature 99 degrees, spring quality has alum gas, effective for burns and sword wounds
