**Iwaki Province Shirakawa District (Official) (Local) Kasshi (Katsushi)** Located in Tsuruō Village. Two source springs; temperature 113 degrees. Spring quality contains common salt, iron, and sulfuric acid vapor; clear and transparent with no odor. Effective for blood loss, chlorosis, debility, retention of fluids (*ryūin*), ulcers and sores (*tadare-mono*), pulmonary disease, colicky pain, various childhood ailments (*shōni-shokkan*), dog bites, and viper stings. However, it is harmful to those suffering from syphilis. There are three bathhouses, with over 2,000 bathers per year.
**Same (Local) Egimata (Yushimata)** Located in Yushimata Village. Eighteen *ri* northwest of Mito. Spring quality contains aluminous vapor. Recommended for apoplexy (*chūfū*), beriberi, headache, and similar conditions.
**Iwasaki District (Local) (Official) Sabako (Mitsuhako)** Located in Yumoto Village, 22 *ri* north of Mito and more than 1 *ri* from the castle town of Taira. Fifty-three source springs; 83 bathing tubs. Spring quality contains sulfurous and aluminous vapors. Recommended for scabies, syphilis, hemorrhoidal conditions, and similar ailments. ○ (Official) Spring quality contains common salt and hydrogen sulfide gas. There are 70 bathhouses, with approximately 5,000 or more bathers per year.
**Same (Official) Nakakura-yu** Located in Takano Village. Temperature 44 degrees. Spring quality is alkaline in nature; recommended for hernia, hemorrhoidal conditions, tapeworm (*sunpaku*), and similar conditions. Over 3,000 bathers per year.
**Same (Official) Dōden-yu** Temperature 47 degrees. Spring quality and therapeutic effects same as above.
**Katta District (Local) Yukatta (Yugatta)** Located in Miya Village, now called Tōda. Three source springs. Spring quality contains sulfurous and saline vapors. Recommended for leprosy, syphilis, apoplexy, debility from chronic illness (*kyorō*), blood disorders, eye diseases, and similar conditions.

Higashiyama Hot Spring is located approximately one *ri* east of Wakamatsu, at a spot reached by ascending only a short distance up the mountain slope. More than half of the bathhouses are two- or three-storied buildings; they number over fifteen in total, all standing in rows along both banks of a clear stream called the Yukawa River, presenting a most picturesque scene. It may truly be called the finest location for escaping the summer heat. The number of bathers per year is said to reach approximately 27,000 to 28,000.
