[Continued from previous page] The rocks of this area are somewhat decomposed metamorphic rocks of a greenish-gray color [Kamuikotan Group]. Hot springs are found at twelve locations; their temperatures and approximate volumes of water discharged per minute are listed below. ○ Ōmiya-ya-no-yu: temperature 140 degrees, discharge approximately 2 *koku* 0.5 *shō*. ○ Arima-yu: 138.2 degrees, approximately 1 *koku* 5 *tō*. ○ Yonekura-yu: 138.2 degrees, large volume. ○ Mukai-taki: 134.6 degrees at the pipe mouth. ○ Yadoya-no-yu: same as above, approximately 8 *tō* 7 *shō*. ○ Ana-yu: same as above, approximately 2 *tō* 5 *shō*. ○ Sō-yu: same as above. ○ Fujiya-no-yu: 132.8 degrees, approximately 3 *tō* 7 *shō*. ○ Chōjiya-yu: 131 degrees, small volume. ○ Kitsune-yu (Fox Bath): 129.2 degrees, small volume. ○ Furutaki and Shintaki: 116.6 degrees. ○ Mujina-yu (Badger Bath): 104 degrees, approximately 3 *tō*. All of these hot springs are of roughly the same quality; they have no odor or taste, contain no precipitates, sulfur, or gas, and merely contain a slightly whitish substance consisting of silica and calcium carbonate. --- **Same (Local) (Lyman) Yuhara** Located in Yuhara Village. Recommended for scabies, hernia, phlegm and dyspnea (*tanshō*), and similar conditions. ○ There are two springs on the riverbank: one at a temperature of 113 degrees, the other at 143.5 degrees. The discharge from each is approximately 5 *tō* per minute. The spring quality contains no sulfurous vapor and only a minimal amount of gas, with a small amount of precipitate that appears to be a white calcareous substance. **Same (Local) (Lyman) Ashinomaki** Springs in Ashinomaki Village emerge from between rocks along the Tsurunuma River. There are three springs: Spring A at 106 degrees, Spring B at 109.5 degrees, Spring C the same. The spring water is tasteless and contains no sulfurous vapor, with only a minimal white saline precipitate. Recommended for eye diseases, beriberi, and similar conditions. ○ On the opposite bank of this spring, there is a small spring called Oya-yu, which is approximately the same temperature. **Same (Local) Yunomata (Yushimata)** Located in Yunomata Village. Temperature: 160 degrees. Recommended for apoplexy, beriberi, sword cuts, bruises, sores and swellings, syphilis, and similar conditions. ○ Ishi-yu (Stone Bath): temperature 120 degrees. **Same (Local) Tokusa** Located in Tokusa Village. Temperature: 130 degrees. Spring quality contains sulfurous vapor. Recommended for scabies and similar conditions. **Same (Official) Yuno-kami Village** Tate-yu: temperature 110 degrees. ○ Kiri-yu: same. ○ Saru-yu (Monkey Bath): temperature 105 degrees. --- **Ōnuma District — (Official) Hayato** Located in Hayato Village. Spring quality contains saline vapor; the taste is astringent and briny. Recommended for accumulation of *ki* (vital energy), sword cuts, and arm pain. Temperature: 95 degrees. No bathing establishment has yet been built. **Same (Official) Gojōshiki Village** Spring quality contains common salt; recommended for muscular and bone pain, deficient cold (*kyorō*), colic, and similar conditions. ○ Ara-yu: temperature 120 degrees. ○ Ōzawa-yu: 130 degrees. ○ Shimo-no-yu: 116 degrees. **Same (Official) Oya** Located in Oya Village. Temperature: 90 degrees. Taste carries an acidic quality; recommended for eye diseases, syphilis, and similar conditions. **Same (Official) Tamanashi** Springs in Tamanashi Village emerge from between rocks along the Nojiri River.
