英語訳

*(Continued from previous page)* **—sodium sulfate, chloride of calcium (*coleur calcique*/chlorocalcium), sodium bicarbonate, and other compounds. Promotes bodily health; recommended for all manner of chronic diseases, skin diseases, syphilis, paralysis/numbness, various women's ailments, and sword wounds/cuts.** --- **Futakata District — (Fu) Yunomura** Two springs are present. Spring A (*kō*) is close to the bathhouse. At a distance of two *shaku* from the spring source, its temperature is 195.8 degrees [Fahrenheit; approximately 91.0°C]. Its output is approximately 1 *koku* 2 *to* 5 *shō* per minute. According to an analysis of this mineral spring conducted by a certain foreign national in Kyoto in Meiji 2 [1869], the spring water contains 8 parts of minerals per 1,000 parts of water: nearly half is calcium carbonate, one-third is common salt (*sodium chloride*), one-thirteenth is chloride of magnesium, with the remainder being silicic acid, alumina, and magnesia. ○ Spring B (*otsu*) is approximately ten *shaku* lower than Spring A, situated on a riverbank, welling up from between rocks. Its output is approximately 9 *to* 3 *shō* per second, with a temperature of 203 degrees [Fahrenheit; approximately 94.9°C], and contains gas. The surrounding rock is of a crystalline nature with a brownish surface coloration, clearly belonging to the "Kamoi-yutan" (*kamoiutian*) group/species. Local people use this hot spring to cook vegetables and to soften hemp fibers. ○ In the hamlet of Inago in the same village, a soft clay (*fuller's earth*) is produced which is used to remove stains from clothing. Local people use it as a substitute for soap. ○ (Local reference) Four bathing pools are established. The spring quality is free of sulfurous gas and is extremely hot. Used for cooking vegetables. Effective against various malignant sores, bruises, cold-type hernia/colic, abdominal accumulation (*shaku*), and all five types of hemorrhoids. --- **Inaba Province — Iwai District — (Ra) Iwai** Less than six *ri* from Yunomura. Within a span of approximately seven *ken*, there are seven springs. ○ Kabuyu, and the First Spring (*Ichinoyu*), also known as Goten-yu (*御殿湯*, the Palace Bath): this is the main spring source, with a temperature of 134.6 degrees [Fahrenheit; approximately 57.0°C]. ○ Nakayu: temperature 116.6 degrees [Fahrenheit; approximately 47.0°C]. ○ Kojōrō: same temperature as above. ○ Miyata Yaichirō-yu: same temperature as above. ○ Maeda Tokue-yu: 54.8 degrees [Fahrenheit; approximately 12.7°C]. ○ Itō Isaburo-yu: same temperature as above. ○ Yamada Jūzō-yu: 114 degrees [Fahrenheit; approximately 45.6°C]. Kabuyu and Yamada-yu contain considerable quantities of gas; Itō-yu contains no gas. All other springs are uniform in their quality — appearing to contain no sulfurous element nor any residual precipitate. (Local reference) Formerly called Yunomura. Divided into eight bathing pools: First Bath, Second Bath, New Bath, Public Bath (*irikomi*), etc. Spring quality contains sulfurous element. Recommended for accumulation/colic, fluid retention (*ryūin*), blood disorders, syphilis, and similar conditions. **Takakusa District — (Local) (Reference work "Ge") Yoshioka** Located in Yunomura. Divided into seven bathing pools: First Bath, Second Bath, Middle Bath, Rough/Wild Bath (*arayu*), etc. Spring quality contains sulfurous element. Recommended for scabies, syphilis, accumulation/colic, and sword wounds/cuts. **Keta District — (Local) Katsumi** Located in Yunomura. Divided into five bathing pools: First Bath, Second Bath, Third Bath, New Bath, etc. Spring quality contains glauber's salt (*mirabilite*, sodium sulfate). Recommended for blood disorders, headaches, and sword wounds/cuts. **Yakami District — (Local) Hikeda** Located in Yutani Village. Spring quality contains saline elements. Recommended for syphilis. --- **Hōki Province — Kawamura District — (Local) Misasa** Spring quality contains sulfurous element. Recommended for weeping eczema/wet sores (*shissō*). **Same (Local) Yamada** Spring quality and therapeutic effects same as above. **Same (Local) Hikichi** Spring quality contains saline elements. Recommended for swellings/boils and weeping eczema/wet sores. **Kume District — (Local) Yunoseki** Spring quality contains sulfurous element. Recommended for weeping eczema/wet sores and scabies.
