At the same location there is also *sunamushi* (sand steaming), in which local people lie on warm sand to cure their ailments. ○ Minato-yu. ○ Oomure — half a *chō* to the west of Minato-yu. ○ Sansetu-yu — located one *chō* to the southeast of Minato-yu. **Same (Local) Yajikayu** Located in Jūchō Village. Contains two components, alum and saline vapors, and is recommended for consumptive conditions (*rōshō*), pain in the limbs and musculoskeletal system, and scabies. **Same (Local) Unagiyu** Located one *chō* to the northeast of Unagi-ike (Eel Pond) in Narikawa Village, Yamakawa-gō. The spring quality contains sulfurous vapor and is recommended for abdominal accumulation and scabies. ○ Chigogamizu — two locations; one belongs to the same village, the other to Ōyama Village. Contains sulfurous vapor and is recommended for scabies. **Satsuma District — (Local) Yukawauchi, also known as Iriki** Located in Soeda Village, Iriki-gō. Contains two components, alum and saline vapors; mild in nature and recommended for those of weak constitution (*kyorui*). Particularly effective for abdominal accumulation. Springs from eight locations. **Same (Local) Ichihino, also known as Hiwaki** Located in Ichihino Village. Contains alum vapor and is recommended for abdominal accumulation and beriberi. --- **Taki District — (Reference work "Ra" / Local) Yuda** Located in Yuda Village. Within a single bathhouse, there are three springs within approximately fifteen *shaku* (roughly 4.5 meters) of one another. Additionally, approximately fifty *ken* (roughly 91 meters) away, there is one spring inside the bathhouse of Yamada Shōdayū. Its temperature is 109.4°F. The spring quality has the smell of sulfur and turns silver black. The temperature and volume of discharge of the three springs are as follows. ○ Gozu-yu — temperature same as above; discharge volume approximately 7 *to* 5 *shō* (roughly 135 liters) per minute. ○ Omae-yu — same, 105.8°F; discharge at minimum quantity. ○ Jitō-yu — same, 104°F; discharge approximately 1 *to* 2 *shō* (roughly 22 liters). All three of these springs have the smell of sulfur and leave behind white sulfurous precipitate. In their vicinity, soft, brownish-tinged *tuff* ("Chufa") is exposed at the surface. However, the spring water appears to well up directly from alluvial soil. ○ (Local) The spring quality contains two components, sulfurous and alum vapors, and is effective for abdominal accumulation and muscular/skeletal cramping (*sujibone no tsuru*), among other conditions. --- **Isa District — (Local) Sareshi, also known as Iimuta** Located in Iimuta Village. The spring water is clear and limpid, and is recommended for heat rising to the head (*nobose*), abdominal accumulation, and similar conditions. **Same (Local) Miyanojō** Spring quality contains alum vapor. **Same (Local) Tsuruta** Located in Shibi Village, Tsuruta-gō. Spring quality and therapeutic effects same as above; also recommended for scabies. --- **Izumi District — (Local) Izumi** Located in Izumi-gō. Spring quality same as Miyanojō. --- **Iki Province — Iki District — (Local) Yunoura** Located in Tateishi Village, two *ri* and one *chō* from Kasu Village. The spring quality contains two components, saline and sulfurous vapors, and is recommended for scabies and syphilis. --- ## Hokkaidō **Oshima Province — Kameda District — (Reference work "Ra") Kami-Yuzawa** Located two *ri* to the northeast of Hakodate, on the limestone of Yuzawa. Temperature: 86°F. The spring water is clear and wells up in large quantities from an "alluvial gravel" layer. **Same (Reference work "Ra") Yukawa** Located approximately two *ri* and twelve *chō* to the northeast of Hakodate, in Yukawa Village.
