**[Right folio]**
**Chokaiši** (*Chōkaishi*) [from the *Jikkai* / Collected Explanations]
**Ensakaki** (lit. "lotus-seat persimmon") · **Renkekaki** (lit. "lotus-flower persimmon")
This variety comes from Iwatsuki in Musashi Province. Its shape is like that of the Tsurunoko (*Gyūshinshi*), being long and large. Above the calyx there is a raised mound of flesh resembling a lotus flower. When ripe it turns yellow, and the flavor is mildly sweet.
**[Left folio]**
**Gyūshinshi** (lit. "ox-heart persimmon") [from the *Jikkai* / Collected Explanations]
**Tsurunoko**
In shape it resembles the Ensakaki, but lacks the lotus-like raised flesh above the calyx. Even when still green and unripe, it has no astringency; its sweetness is present but of inferior quality. Even when fully ripe, it remains yellow in color.
