久（きう）繁栄（はんゑい）なるべし。博識（はくしき）多能（たのふ）の人（ひと）たりとも。
我（わが）博識（はくしき）多能（たのふ）よりは。五割方（ごわりかた）。ひくゝなつて。
謙遜（けんそん）に慎（つゝし）まば。人（ひと）よろこんで用（もち）ゆべし。
一文不通（いちもんふつう）の文盲（もんもう）たりとも。我（わが）文盲（もんもう）よりは。
五わり方（がた）。ひくゝなつて。我（われ）は古今（ここん）の鈍物（どんぶつ）
なりとて。我（わが）おろかを恥（はぢ）しらば利口物（りかうもの）也と。
人（ひと）誉（ほめ）て愛（あい）すべし。是（これ）をもつて考（かんが）へしるべし。
いかほど美目（みめ）よく。発明（はつめい）でも。金持（かねもち）でも

久しく繁栄するであろう。博識多能の人であっても、我が博識多能よりは五割方低くなって、謙遜に慎めば、人は喜んで用いるであろう。一文不通の文盲であっても、我が文盲よりは五割方低くなって、我は古今の鈍物なりとして、我が愚かさを恥じ知れば利口者なりと、人は誉めて愛するであろう。これをもって考え知るべきである。いかほど美貌よく、発明でも、金持ちでも、博識でも、多能でも、我が持ち前より、少しでも鼻が高くなれば、人に忌み嫌われ、禍を招くのである。いかなる不器量で、鼻が低くても、銀がなくても、鈍物でも、不学でも、我が持ち前より五割方、鼻を低めて居るときは、人も愛し、身は楽にて、神や仏も冥慮があるであろう。今汝が鼻を低めしこそ、心の美貌をよくするの慈悲な
