○大黒天（だいこくでん）うちうなづき。心得（こゝろへ）たりとて。うち出（で）の
小槌（こづち）をふりあげ給へば。娘（むすめ）の凹（ひくい）鼻（はな）の上（うへ）に。ひかり
かゝやく象牙（ざうげ）の鼻（はな）。忽然（こつぜん）と重（かさな）りければ
娘（むすめ）。顔（かほ）をしかめ。手（て）で撫（なで）て曰（いわく）。早速（さつそく）の御利生（ごりしやう）にて
鼻（はな）は高（たか）くなりて。嬉（うれ）しく侍（はべ）れども。さて〳〵
顔（かほ）がひつばり。気味（きみ）わるくて。頭痛（づつう）がいたし。
其上（そのうへ）。鼻（はな）の上（うへ）に鼻（はな）が出来（でき）た様（やう）で。今迄（いままで）よりも。
猶々（なを〳〵）見（み）ともないやうにそんじまする。何（なに）とぞ
今一度（まいちど）。御仕替（おしかへ）なされて下（くだ）さりませ
○大黒天（だいこくでん）笑（わら）ふて曰（いわく）。今（いま）幾度（いくたび）仕替（しかへ）たりとも。同（おな）じ
事（こと）にて。此上（このうへ）は。我等（われら）が力（ちから）に行（ゆか）ぬこと也。すでに
汝（なんぢ）を拵（こしら）へし。作者（さくしや）の父母（ふぼ）が力（ちから）にも。行（ゆか）ぬ事（こと）に
あらずや。親（おや）の力（ちから）にも行（ゆか）ぬ所（ところ）は。天命（てんめい）なり。
然（しか）れは。汝（なんぢ）がからだは。父母（ふぼ）が細工物（さいくもの）なりといへ
ども。元（もと）をさがせば。天命（てんめい）の細工（さいく）なり。天命（てんめい）の
細工（さいく）なれば。天命（てんめい）の作者（さくしや）を頼（たの）みて。天命（てんめい）の心（こゝろ）に
現代語訳
○大黒天がうなずいて、「分かった」として、打ち出の
小槌を振り上げると、娘の低い鼻の上に、光り
輝く象牙の鼻が忽然と重なった。すると
娘は顔をしかめ、手で撫でて言った。「早速のご利益で
鼻は高くなって、嬉しく思いますが、さて
顔が引きつって、気味が悪くて、頭痛がします。
その上、鼻の上に鼻ができたようで、今までよりも
なおさら見苦しくなってしまいました。どうか
もう一度、作り替えてくださいませ」
○大黒天は笑って言った。「今何度作り替えても同じ
ことで、これ以上は我々の力ではどうにもならないことだ。すでに
お前を作った作者である父母の力でも、どうにもならないこと
ではないか。親の力でもどうにもならないところは天命である。
そうであれば、お前の体は父母の細工物であると言っても、
元をたどれば天命の細工である。天命の
細工であれば、天命の作者を頼んで、天命の心に

mallet. Then, upon the girl's low nose, a brilliantly
shining ivory nose suddenly appeared on top. The
girl grimaced, touched it with her hand, and said: "Thanks to your immediate divine favor,
my nose has become high and I am happy, but now
my face feels tight, unpleasant, and I have a headache.
Moreover, it looks like a nose has been placed on top of my nose, making me look even
more unsightly than before. Please,
once more, remake it for me."
○Daikokuten laughed and said: "No matter how many times I remake it now, it will be the same
thing, and beyond this point, it is beyond our power. Already
it is something that cannot be helped even by the power of your parents, who are your creators.
Is this not so? What cannot be helped even by parental power is heavenly fate.
Therefore, though your body may be called the handiwork of your parents,
if you trace it back to its origin, it is the handiwork of heavenly fate. Since it is the
handiwork of heavenly fate, rely on the creator of heavenly fate, and according to the heart of heavenly fate
