一 近頃（ちかころ）京都の後藤左一（ごとうさいち）の門人（もんじん）香川太冲（かかわたちう）
のあらはすところの薬選（やくせん）といへる書（しよ）を見
侍（はへ）りしにその続編（ぞくへん）に温泉のことを
論（ろん）して温泉硫黄（おんせんいわう）にて沸（わ）くといふ説（せつ）を
うけかはず稲若水（いなじやくすい）の説（せつ）を引ておもへ
らく地中（ちちう）に水の筋（すち）あり火の筋あ
りその火の筋（すち）水｜筋（すち）に出会（であ）へは温
泉となるといへりその説是（せつぜ）なること
は是（ぜ）なりしかれ共｜甚疎（はなはたそ）なりまして
是游子六（これゆうしりく）の説（せつ）を拾（ひろ）ひしものにして
若水（しやくすい）はしめて唱（とな）へし説（せつ）にはあらず
しかし天経或文（てんけいわくもん）は近頃（ちかころ）渡（わた）りし書（しよ）
なれは若水（しやくすい）は万一これを見ずして偶（たま〳〵）
その説（せつ）の暗合（あんごう）せしもしれされ共太（た）
冲（ちう）の游子六（ゆうしりく）の説（せつ）なることをしらずし

一 最近、京都の後藤左一の門人である香川太冲が著した『薬選』という書物を見る機会があった。その続編において温泉について論じており、温泉は硫黄によって沸くという説を受け入れず、稲若水の説を引用して次のように考えている。地中には水の流れがあり、火の流れがある。その火の流れが水の流れに出会うと温泉となる、と述べている。その説が正しいことは正しいのだが、しかしながら非常に粗雑である。しかもこれは游子六の説を拾い集めたものであって、若水が初めて唱えた説ではない。しかし『天経或問』は最近渡来した書物であるから、若水は万が一これを見ずして偶然その説が一致したのかもしれない。されども太冲は游子六の説であることを知らずして、若水が初めて唱えられた説であると思って

One: Recently, I had the opportunity to see a book called "Yakusen" (Medicine Selection) written by Kagawa Taichū, a disciple of Gotō Saichi of Kyoto. In its sequel, he discusses hot springs and does not accept the theory that hot springs boil due to sulfur. Instead, he cites Ina Jakusui's theory, thinking as follows: there are water channels and fire channels in the earth, and when the fire channels meet the water channels, hot springs are formed. While this theory is correct to some extent, it is nevertheless very crude. Moreover, this is something collected from Yūshi Roku's theories, and it is not a theory that Wakamizu first propounded.
