However, water that is exceptionally strong in saltiness, resembling the taste of *nigari* (bittern, the liquid remaining after salt is extracted from seawater), is again a case of excess. As for the color of the water: water that is black, red, blue, or otherwise strangely colored is not good. A color that is simply clear and white, like pure water, is to be considered desirable. Water that bears a slight yellowish tint is also acceptable. Even so, water that is so excessively yellow as to appear muddy and turbid is likewise a case where the properties are too overpowering. Item: In various provinces, there are places where several separate hot spring pools (*yutsubo*) exist in one location. One must not assume that, simply because the land is all one and the same place, there is no difference between the springs.
