うさぎはすかさずさけさかなをいだして

いぬのかへるをまつてちからをあはせてしめんと思ひさけを▲

現代語訳
猫と狸は
また酷い目に
遭い、どうにか
して爺さんを
やっつけようと、あの
猿も頼み
込んだ。「とにかく兎
ばかりなら怖くも
ないが、犬はみんなが
大きな肝っ玉で疲れが
る留守を狙って、爺さん
の家へ踏み込むべし」と相
談を決めて、猫・狸・
猿の三匹がある日、犬の
遠歩きするのを見て「今日
こそ」と爺さんの家へ行って
見ると、爺さんも留守で
兎ばかりが留守居をして
いたので、三匹はいきなりぐっと大胡坐をかいた。
兎は素早く酒と肴を出して
様々にもてなし「親父の帰りを待て」と言う。実は
犬の帰るのを待って力を合わせてやっつけようと思い、酒を
勧めて
この三匹を
酔わせる心である
