戦ったが、まったく勝負がつかなかったので、その日の戦は引き分けとし、翌日を待つこととなった。
明くれば七月六日、巳の刻より戦が始まり、暮れ時より千羽・馬火・乱星などの狼煙を上げ、弩（いしゆみ）を放ち、奔電の勢いで攻め上ったので、関東勢は次第次第に囲みを解いて堂峯まで退陣した。浅間勢は勢いに乗って攻め入ったので、大手の軍は破れて坂元まで引き退いた。浅間勢は堂峯まで押し寄せて陣を取り、関東勢は紬長原に上って遥かに敵の陣を見渡すと、数百万の悪鬼どもが各々火炎を吹き散らし、強欲無法の牙を噛み出し、その数いくばくとも計り知れない。
このことを白雲山へ注進した。白雲山で評議があり、「浅間勢の大半は大手へ向かっているとみえる。さすれば浅間の本城には大将ばかりが残っているものと思われる。吾妻郡・馬の神岳・大笹口よりひそかに攻め

They fought, but the battle remained utterly inconclusive, so that day's engagement was declared a draw, and both sides waited for the following day.
When the seventh day of the seventh month dawned, the battle commenced from the Hour of the Snake (around 9–11 a.m.). From dusk onward, signal fires of various kinds—including "thousand wings," "horse fire," and "scattered stars"—were lit, crossbows were loosed, and they attacked with the force of rushing lightning. The Kantō forces gradually loosened their encirclement and withdrew to Dōmine. The Asama forces, pressing their advantage, broke through the main front, forcing the enemy to retreat as far as Sakamoto. The Asama forces advanced to Dōmine and established their position there, while the Kantō forces climbed to Tsumugi-Nagahara and looked out over the enemy encampment in the distance. They saw hundreds of thousands of evil demons, each spewing fire and flames, gnashing their fangs of greed and lawlessness, their numbers beyond counting.
A report of this situation was dispatched to Mount Hakuun. A council of deliberation was held at Mount Hakuun, and it was concluded: "It appears that the greater part of the Asama forces are headed toward the main front. If so, it would seem that only the general remains at Asama's main castle. We shall secretly attack from Agatsuma District, Manogadake, and Ōzasa-guchi..."
