攻め入り打ち破れという謀略を授けて、横川の関所を少数で守り、大手の勢いを食い止めて申すべし。関を越えては攻め入るまじ。その間に搦手から攻め破れば、大手の勢いも皆引き返すだろうと下知して、吾妻勢を急がせた。
明けて七月七日、早朝から責め太鼓を打ち立て打ち立て、浅間勢は息もつかせず揉みに揉んで戦ったので、関東勢は次第に逃げ退き、碓井の神も踏み留まって戦ったが、浅間勢に取り囲まれ、かろうじて逃げ出して関東勢の中へと落ちていった。
