天地（あめつち）すでに剖（わかれ）て国とこたちのみこと在（あれま）してより天神七代か
あいたは男（おとこ）女（をんな）のわかちなし七代めの伊弉諾（いざなき）伊弉冉（いざなみ）のみ
ことの二神（ふたはしら）より男女とわかれて天の浮（うき）はしのもとにてはじめて
婚合（みとのまくばい）して一 女（によ）三 男（なん）をうみ給ふ一女といふは天せう太じんの御事
にて三男のあねきみにてわたらせ給ふ御かたちひかりかゝやき
うるはしくましますゆへあまてる御神（をほんかみ）と申又日の神とも申
奉りてたかまが原をしらしめ給ふ下界（げかい）にあまくたり天（あめ）が下（した）し

天地がすでに分かれて国常立尊が現れてから天神七代までは、男女の区別がなかった。七代目の伊弉諾尊・伊弉冉尊の二神より男女と分かれて、天の浮橋のもとで初めて婚姻して一女三男をお生みになった。一女というのは天照大神のことで、三男の姉君でいらっしゃる。お姿が光り輝き美しくあられるため、天照大御神と申し、また日の神とも申し上げて、高天原をお治めになる。下界に天降りして天下をお治めになり、地神の祖と仰がれなさり、今の世までもとても尊く

① On women being the beginning of humanity
After heaven and earth had already separated and Kunitokotachi-no-mikoto appeared, through the seven generations of heavenly deities, there was no distinction between male and female. From the seventh generation of the two deities Izanaki-no-mikoto and Izanami-no-mikoto, males and females became separate, and at the base of the floating bridge of heaven, they first married and gave birth to one daughter and three sons. The one daughter refers to Amaterasu Ōmikami, who was the elder sister of the three sons. Because her form shone with radiant light and was beautiful, she is called Amaterasu Ōmikami, and is also referred to as the Sun Goddess, ruling over Takamagahara (the High Celestial Plain). She descended to the lower world to rule over the land under heaven, and is revered as the ancestor of the earthly deities, remaining most sacred to this very day.
