しこく諸人（しよにん）うやまひ奉る事なりされば女は天せう太神のなが
れなれば神代（かみよ）はいふにおよばす人の世となりても上代（じやうだい）の女は
その心すなほにして邪（よこしま）ならす世のすへ今の世におよびては
女の心日々にあしくなり人をそねみ妬（ねた）み身を慢（まん）し色ふ
かくいつわりかざりて欲心（よくしん）をゝくやさしき心なくして情（なさけ）を
しらず女人は地こくのつかひなり仏のたねをたち外面（げめん）は菩（ぼ）
薩（さつ）にゝて内心は夜叉（やしや）のごとしと釈迦（しやか）も経（きやう）にとき女子はちか
づくれば不孫（ふそん）なりと孔子（こうし）も論語にのへ給ふしかれば唐（とう）天（てん）ぢく
のむかしよりひがめる女の心なれば今すへの世にいかで女
の正しかるべきなれど人（にん）〳〵心がけたしなみ給はゝすこしは
すなほの心となり神慮（しんりよ）の正直（しやうちき）にもかなひ給ふへし心正直な
ればたしなまねども嫉妬（しつと）のこゝろなく欲（よく）すくなく情（なさけ）ふかく物（もの）
をあはれみ心もやさしくなるものなり女（をんな）は年（とし）わかくいまだ嫁（よめいり）
せぬさきは世をはぢ身をはぢていわねども心（こゝろ）をたしなむ所
もあれど年たけ世をもちてのゝち多（をゝく）は心あしくなりへび
ろくろ首（くび）などのあだ名を立られ下ざまにては夫（をつと）には山の
神といわれ人には火車とよばるゝたぐひをゝしまことにあさ
ましき事なりたしなみ給ふべし

現代語訳
四国の諸人が敬い奉ることであるが、されば女は天照太神の流れであるから、神代は言うに及ばず、人の世となっても上代の女はその心が素直で邪でなかった。世の末、今の世に及んでは、女の心は日々に悪くなり、人を嫉み妬み、身を驕り、色を深くして偽り飾って欲心を大きくし、優しい心なくして情を知らない。女人は地獄の使いなり、仏の種を断つ、外面は菩薩に似て内心は夜叉のようだと釈迦も経に説き、女子は近づけば不遜なりと孔子も論語に述べられている。しかれば唐や天竺の昔より偏った女の心であるから、今の末の世にどうして女が正しかろうか。しかし人々が心がけ嗜み給うならば、少しは素直の心となり、神慮の正直にも叶い給うであろう。心が正直であれば、嗜まなくとも嫉妬の心なく、欲少なく、情深く、物を哀れみ、心も優しくなるものである。女は年若く、いまだ嫁入りしない先は、世を恥じ身を恥じて言わないが、心を嗜む所もあるが、年を取り世を持ってののち、多くは心悪くなり、蛇やろくろ首などの仇名を立てられ、下様においては夫には山の神と言われ、人には火車と呼ばれる類が多い。まことに浅ましいことである。嗜み給うべし。

Women are messengers of hell who cut off the seeds of Buddha; their outward appearance resembles bodhisattvas but their inner hearts are like demons, as Buddha taught in the sutras. Confucius also stated in the Analects that women become insolent when approached closely. Since women's hearts have been biased since ancient times in China and India, how could women be righteous in this degenerate age? However, if people make an effort to cultivate themselves, their hearts will become somewhat honest and will accord with the divine will of honesty. When the heart is honest, even without conscious effort, there will be no jealousy, little greed, deep compassion, pity for things, and the heart will become gentle. Women, when young and not yet married, feel shame before the world and about themselves and do not speak out, and there are places where they cultivate their hearts. But after they age and establish households, most become evil-hearted and earn nicknames like "snake" or "rokurokubi" (long-necked demon). Among the lower classes, they are called "mountain gods" by their husbands and "demons" by others - there are many such cases. This is truly deplorable. You should cultivate yourselves.
