When Man'hachi was traveling through various provinces and lived in the land of the orangutan-like creatures called shōjō, he stored large quantities of sake by the banks of the Shinyō River. The shōjō would come and drink to their heart's content until they passed out drunk, not knowing what was happening around them. At that moment, he would quietly strip them naked and leave them there. The smell of alcohol would attract countless mosquitoes that would cover their entire bodies and suck their blood thoroughly until they couldn't move. He would then sweep off the mosquitoes with a feather broom, hang them on a tree, squeeze out their blood, and extract the shōjō blood as a dye. This was like accumulating gold and silver, maintaining the lifespan of 10,008 years without end.
