現代語訳
鷲の捕り方は、猿の皮を丸剥きにして、中に砂利小石などを一杯詰め込み、石がこぼれないように皮を縫い、岩の下などに置いて引き裂く。中の小石を猿の肉と思い、夢中になって詰め込むと腹が重くなって飛ぶこともできず、うっかりと呆れて「本当に私としたことが」と言うのを合図に生け捕る。
英語訳
The method for catching eagles is to skin a monkey completely, stuff it full of gravel and small stones, sew the skin shut so the stones don't spill out, place it under a rock or similar location, and tear it open. Thinking the small stones inside are monkey meat, the eagle stuffs itself greedily, becomes too heavy in the belly to fly, and sits there stupefied, saying "What have I done to myself!" - which serves as the signal to capture it alive.
