英語訳

[Right folio] (Continued from previous page) ...having completed his duties, he arrived at Ōtera village in the eleventh month of that year. There, through the intermediary of a senior official (go-yōnin), he was informed by way of formal congratulations (hōrei) that the lord was greatly pleased that the personnel of various ranks — including attendants — who had been sent out that spring for the duty of coastal defense in Ezo had all returned without incident. Recognizing the extreme hardships of travel by both sea and land over such distant territory, the lord had intended to present him with sake at the last post-station before arriving at Wakamatsu; however, since he had returned ahead of the other personnel, he was informed that the gift would instead be presented at the castle, and it was duly presented thereafter. Item: In the eleventh month of that same year, all of the personnel garrisoned at Sōya [Left folio] were granted an audience with the domain lord. Item: In the twelfth month of that same year, having proceeded to Ezo for the duty of coastal defense and returned to the domain without incident, he was presented with a formal meal (go-ryōri) at the castle. Item: In the eighth month of the same sixth year of the Snake [Bunka 6, 1809], in recognition of his diligent service since his previous duties, his additional service in the Ezo assignment, and his particularly meritorious efforts regarding the billeting arrangements (yadowari) during the journeys, he was granted a stipend supplement (o-yakuryō) of thirty koku in addition to his existing stipend supplement. Item: In the eighth month of that same year, during the hunt (oitorigari), he was assigned to the duty of constructing field shelters (koyatori go-yō)... (Continued on next page)
