この弥治右衛門については、承応二巳年（1653）五月に父・所左衛門が切腹を仰せ付けられ、同年八月朔日（一日）に出生した。御城下に居ることを遠慮し、万松山天寧寺の小庵を借り受け、母に育てられていたところ、寛文六年（1666）十一月十三日、十四歳になった節に母が病死した。同十年（1670）、十八歳になり、母方の氏を名乗って江戸表へ出て、久世大和守様に召し抱えられたが、訳あって同所を暇を取り、大久保加賀守様に召し出されて勤めていたところ、延宝八年（1680）春、

（会津へ）召し返すべき旨を内々に申し越してきた者があったため、暇を取り会津へ下ったところ、三月十五日に並の御擬作を下されて御徒に召し出された。しかしながら、父・所左衛門が二十八年以前に河原又左衛門と喧嘩をして切腹を仰せ付けられたが、今様（現代）の者の子を召し出した例がないとのことで、翌日御暇を下された。ところが同年閏八月二十四日に再び並の御擬作を下されて御徒に召し出された。

Regarding this Yajirōemon: in the fifth month of the second year of Jōō, the year of the Snake (1653), his father Shozaemon was ordered to commit seppuku, and Yajirōemon was born on the first day of the eighth month of that same year. Out of deference [to his father's disgrace], he refrained from residing within the castle town, and instead borrowed a small hermitage at Banshōzan Teinei-ji temple, where he was raised by his mother. On the thirteenth day of the eleventh month of the sixth year of Kanbun (1666), when he turned fourteen years old, his mother died of illness. In the tenth year of Kanbun (1670), having reached the age of eighteen, he took his mother's family name and went to Edo, where he was taken into service by Lord Kuze Yamato-no-kami. For reasons unstated, he left that service and was subsequently taken on by Lord Ōkubo Kaga-no-kami, under whom he continued to serve. In the spring of the eighth year of Enpō (1680),

there were those who quietly sent word that he should be recalled [to Aizu], so he took his leave and returned to Aizu. On the fifteenth day of the third month, he was granted a standard provisional stipend (gigi-saku) and called into service as an o-kachi (foot soldier/attendant). However, since his father Shozaemon had quarreled with Kawahara Mataemon twenty-eight years prior and had been ordered to commit seppuku, it was said that there was no precedent for calling the son of such a person into service in the present day, and he was dismissed the following day. Nevertheless, on the twenty-fourth day of the intercalary eighth month of that same year, he was once again granted a standard provisional stipend and called into service as an o-kachi.
