右の弥治右衛門については、承応二巳年（1653）五月に父・所左衛門が切腹を仰せ付けられ、同年八月一日に出生したが、御城下に罷り在ることを遠慮し、万松山天寧寺の小庵を借り受け、母に育てられて過ごしていた。寛文六年（1666）十一月十三日、十四歳になった節に母が病死した。同十年（1670）、十八歳になり、母方の氏（横山氏）を名乗って江戸表へ罷り出て、久世大和守様に召し抱えられたが、故あって同所を暇を取り、大久保加賀守様へ召し出され、相勤めておりましたところ、延宝八年（1680）春に、

（会津へ）召し返すべき旨を内々に申し越してくれる者がいたため、暇を取り会津へ罷り下ったところ、三月十五日に並の御擬作を下され、御徒に召し出された。しかしながら、父・所左衛門が二十八年以前に河原又左衛門と喧嘩をして切腹を仰せ付けられており、今様の者の子を召し出した例はないとのことで、翌日お暇を下された。ところが、同年閏八月二十四日に再び並の御擬作を下され、御徒に召し出された。

Regarding the aforementioned Yajirōemon: in the second year of Jōō, the year of the Snake (1653), in the fifth month, his father Shozaemon was ordered to commit ritual suicide (seppuku), and Yajirōemon was born on the first day of the eighth month of that same year. Out of deference, he refrained from residing in the castle town, instead borrowing a small hermitage at Banshōzan Tennei-ji temple, where he was raised by his mother. On the thirteenth day of the eleventh month of the sixth year of Kanbun (1666), when he turned fourteen years of age, his mother died of illness. In the tenth year of the same era (1670), having turned eighteen, he took his mother's family name (Yokoyama) and went to Edo, where he was taken into service by Lord Kuze Yamato-no-kami. For reasons [unstated], he took his leave from that position and was subsequently taken into service by Lord Ōkubo Kaga-no-kami, where he continued to serve, until in the spring of the eighth year of Enpō (1680),

word was sent to him privately by certain individuals that he should return to Aizu, and so he took his leave and went down to Aizu. On the fifteenth day of the third month, he was granted the standard provisional stipend (nami no ogisaku) and was called into service as an o-kachi (foot soldier/attendant). However, as his father Shozaemon had committed seppuku twenty-eight years prior following a quarrel with Kawahara Matazaemon, it was said there was no precedent for calling into service the son of such a person in the present day, and so on the following day he was dismissed. Nevertheless, on the twenty-fourth day of the intercalary eighth month of the same year, he was once again granted the standard provisional stipend and called into service as an o-kachi.
One item: In the twelfth month of the eighth year of Enpō, the year of the Monkey (1680), he was sent to Edo on duty rotation (kinban), and was supposed to complete one tour of duty and return, but [text continues on next page].
