此道の諸書（しよしよ）にわたりて
初学（しよかく）の楷（はし）【階】とならんことく
撰（えらひ）出て。三十一文字（みそひともじ）に
綴（つゞ）るもの都（すべ）て七十六首
なり。予これを見てのみや
人に語（かた）らんと桜木に彫（えり）。且（かつ）
作者の姓（せい）によりて手（て）ごと
の清水と題し。挿（いけ）花の
図画（とぐわ）百 有余品（ゆうよひん）を並（あは）せて
壱（ひと）まきとし。童蒙（どうまう）のた
よりとなすことになんぬ

この道の諸書にわたって、初学者の手引きとなるように選び出して、三十一文字（和歌）に綴ったものが全部で七十六首である。私はこれを見るだけでなく人に語り伝えようと版木に彫り、かつ作者の姓によって「手毎の清水」と題し、生け花の図画百余品を併せて一巻とし、初心者の手引きとするのである。

Selecting from various books on this Way (of flower arrangement) to serve as a guide for beginners, I have compiled seventy-six poems written in thirty-one syllables (waka). I have carved these into woodblocks not only for my own viewing but to share with others, and taking the author's surname, I have titled it "Tegoto no Shimizu" (The Clear Spring of Each Style), combining it with over one hundred illustrations of flower arrangements to create one volume as a guide for novices.
