公私のため如何しき事に候、その上勝手の失却にも         候間、向後なお以て油断なきよう心得るべき         思し召しに候、以上           三月四日 一 三月二十五日福井より御発駕、東海道通りにて御旅行 一 四月九日品川駅御宿泊より直ちに御参府、御案内のため御老中   御側御用人若年寄中へ御廻勤、霊巌島御屋敷へ   御到着 一 同月十日右同断につき上使御老中阿部豊後守(正武)殿御越し、   上意の趣御達しあり(上使御取扱い例の如し)御退出後右の   御礼のため御老中   御側御用人へ御廻勤 一 同月十一日御登城(昨十日御用番阿部豊後守殿より連名の御切紙あり)御参勤の   御礼を仰せ上げられ、例の通り御太刀銀綿御献上、御台様へ白銀   縮緬を指し上げられ、御退出掛けに御礼のため御老中御側御用人   若年寄中へ御廻勤 一 同月十四日御側御用人柳沢出羽守(保明)殿、松平右京太夫(輝員)殿へ   御出で、御講談御拝聴の御願いを仰せ入れられ

this would be inappropriate for both public and private matters, and moreover would result in financial losses. Therefore, in the future, one should be even more careful and vigilant.         Such are [the lord's] thoughts. The above.           3rd month, 4th day 1. On the 25th day of the 3rd month, [the lord] departed from Fukui and traveled via the Tōkaidō route. 1. On the 9th day of the 4th month, directly from lodging at Shinagawa station, [he] proceeded to Edo. For notification purposes, [he] made courtesy visits to the senior councilors, chamberlains, and junior councilors, and arrived at the Reiganjima residence. 1. On the 10th day of the same month, regarding the above matter, the envoy senior councilor Lord Abe Bungo-no-kami (Masatake) came over, and the purport of the shogun's intentions was conveyed (the envoy's protocol was as usual). After [the envoy's] departure, as thanks for the above, [the lord] made courtesy visits to the senior councilors and chamberlains. 1. On the 11th day of the same month, [he] went to the castle (yesterday on the 10th, there was a joint written notice from duty councilor Lord Abe Bungo-no-kami). [He] offered thanks for [being permitted] sankin participation, presented the customary ceremonial sword, silver, and cotton, offered white silver and silk crepe to the Shogun's wife, and upon departure, made courtesy visits to the senior councilors, chamberlains, and junior councilors as thanks. 1. On the 14th day of the same month, [he] visited chamberlains Lord Yanagisawa Dewa-no-kami (Yasuaki) and Lord Matsudaira Ukyōno-tayū (Terukazu), and requested to attend lectures.
