一 十月十六日酒給候儀相慎候様御旗本衆且又町中江も
左之通被 仰出諸大名江者被 仰出も無之候得共江戸ニ詰
居候者致承知可然 思召候ニ付右御書付之写御番所江指
出候旨江戸表ゟ申来候ニ付御国表ニ而も無急度寄々相触
候様今日御目付江月番御家老申渡之
覚
一 酒に酔心ならす不届仕候もの粗有之候兼而
より大酒仕候儀停止候得共弥以酒給候儀人々
相慎可申事
一 客等有之候而も酒給候儀無用候事
但酒狂之者有之候ハヽ酒為給候者も可為越度事
一 酒商売仕候もの連々減候様ニ可仕事
右之通急度可相守於違背者可為曲事候以上

現代語訳
一 十月十六日 酒を飲むことを慎むよう御旗本衆ならびに町中へも
以下の通り仰せ出された。諸大名へは仰せ出されていないが、江戸に詰めて
いる者は承知するのがよろしいとのお考えにより、右の御書付の写しを御番所へ差し
出した旨、江戸表より申し来たため、御国表においても厳重に適宜触れ回る
よう今日御目付へ月番御家老が申し渡した。
覚
一 酒に酔い心得違いをして不届きを働く者がしばしばあり、かねて
より大酒をすることを禁止しているが、いよいよもって酒を飲むことを人々は
慎むべきこと
一 客などがあっても酒を飲むことは無用のこと
ただし酒に狂う者があれば、酒を飲ませた者も越度となること
一 酒商売をする者は次第に減らすようにすること
右の通り厳重に守るべし。違反する者については処罰の対象とする。以上

One: October 16th - [Orders were issued] to the hatamoto retainers and also to the townspeople to refrain from drinking sake as follows:
Although no orders were issued to the various daimyo, since it was deemed appropriate for those stationed in Edo to be aware of this, a copy of the said written order was submitted to the guard station. As this was reported from Edo, the monthly rotation elder conveyed to the inspectors today that [the order] should be strictly circulated as appropriate throughout the domain as well.
Memorandum
One: There are frequently those who become intoxicated and commit improprieties through misconduct. Although heavy drinking has been prohibited from before, people should all the more refrain from drinking sake.
One: Even when there are guests, drinking sake is unnecessary.
However, if there are those who become mad with drink, those who provide the sake will also be held accountable.
One: Those engaged in the sake trade should gradually reduce [their business].
The above should be strictly observed. Those who violate [these rules] will be subject to punishment. The above.
