一 母（はゝ）おやみもちになり候 月（つき）よりして梅干（うめぼし）又 酢鮨（すし）すべて酢（す）の気あるものを喰（くふ）べからず
一 雁（がん）鴨（かも）かしはすへて鳥類（とりるい）油（あぶら）つよき魚（うを）の類（るい）をすこしも喰（くふ）べからず
一 乳（ちゝ）をのませる中（うち）は妊身（みもち）の時（とき）の通（とほ）り少（すこ）しも毒（どく）を喰（くふ）べからず
これぞ小児（せうに）を無病（むびやう）にそだてる基（もとひ）なり
一 小児（こども）疱瘡（ほうそう）前（まへ）には母（はゝ）が毒（どく）断（たち）せしごとく酢（す）は第（だい）一の毒（どく）と知（しる）べし
一 常（つね）に虫（むし）を下（くだ）し胎毒（たいどく）を去（さる）くすりを用（もち）ひ無病（むびやう）なり
とも朝暮（あけくれ）ゆだんをする事なかれ
一 疱瘡（ほうそう）前（まへ）には兎（うさぎ）を喰（くは）せる事 度々（たび〳〵）よし兎（うさぎ）の血（ち）を呑（のま）

一 海鰻（はも）を湯（ゆ）に煮（に）てその湯（ゆ）をもつて疱瘡（ほうそう）前（まへ）の小児（こども）に

現代語訳
【右丁上段】
一、母親が妊娠した月から、梅干し・酢鮨など、すべて酢の気のあるものを食べてはならない。
一、雁・鴨・かしわ（鶏）など、すべての鳥類、および油分の強い魚の類を少しも食べてはならない。
一、乳を飲ませている間は、妊娠中と同様に、少しも毒（となるもの）を食べてはならない。
――これこそが、小児を無病に育てる基本である。
一、子どもの疱瘡の前には、母親が（上記のように）毒断ちをしたごとく、酢は第一の毒であると心得るべし。
一、常に虫下しをして胎毒を去る薬を用い、（子どもが）無病であっても、朝夕油断をすることなかれ。
一、疱瘡の前には、兎を食べさせることが度々よし。兎の血を飲ませるもたいへんよし。
一、海鰻（ハモ）を湯で煮て、その湯をもって疱瘡前の子どもに頭から浴びせ、手足の先まで残りなく湯が染みわたるように洗い遣わすべし。生まれたときより月に一度ずつこのようにすれば、一生の間、疱瘡をすることなし。

• From the month that the mother becomes pregnant, she must not eat pickled plums, vinegared sushi, or anything whatsoever that carries a sour, vinegary quality.
• She must not eat so much as a bite of wild goose, duck, kashiwa (chicken), or any other fowl, nor any fish that is particularly rich in oil.
• While nursing, she must avoid all harmful foods, just as during pregnancy.
— This is the very foundation of raising a child in good health.
• Before a child's smallpox erupts, just as the mother cut out harmful foods, vinegar should be known as the foremost poison.
• Always administer worm-purging medicines and medicines to expel fetal toxins, and even when the child appears healthy, do not be negligent morning or evening.
• In the period before smallpox erupts, it is frequently good to have the child eat rabbit. It is also greatly beneficial to have the child drink rabbit's blood.
• Boil pike conger eel (hamo) in water, and with that water, pour it over the smallpox-anticipated child from head to toe, washing them so that the water penetrates thoroughly to the tips of the hands and feet. If this is done once a month from birth, the child will never suffer smallpox for the rest of their life.

When he had spoken thus, Yuno-o, Tōge-no-mago, and Chakushi, along with the rest, rejoiced greatly — it was beyond half what they had hoped for — and offered their respects to the Daruma deity.
