(The following shall be) imposed (as punishment). Henceforth, should such activities occur, investigations shall be conducted regardless of whether those involved are samurai, temple or shrine personnel, townspeople, or villagers. Not only the persons directly involved, but also landowners, householders, five-household groups (gonin-gumi), village headmen (nanushi), and all residents within a single town block shall be subject to the same punishment as for mikasa gambling. You are therefore instructed to remain ever vigilant and conduct thorough investigations, and if there are any individuals deemed suspicious, they are to be reported immediately. The above.

Item: 7th day of the 5th month. Through a messenger, as was customary, the first bonito of the season (hatsu saba) — a local product of the domain — was presented as a gift.
Item: 12th day of the 6th month. As it was the height of summer, through a messenger, as was customary, sōmen noodles — a local product of the domain — were presented as a gift.
Item: 25th day of the 7th month. Regarding the matter of restricting currency exchange at the official exchange office (satsudokoro), the domain Elder (karō) issued the following written directive to the Kanazu Magistrate, the Town Magistrate, and the Rural Magistrate:
Memorandum
One. Regarding the official exchange office (satsudokoro): In previous years, a system was established for the exchange of monme-kin (文金) currency, but as this caused hardship not only for those of high station but even for the common people, His Lordship — in recognition of the difficulties involved — ordered the appointment of a general administrator (motojime) as well as the introduction of additional investment funds (kanyūkin), and gradually the exchange office came to flourish. However, it has come to our attention that unauthorized private currency exchange and circulation of gold coinage has been taking place. An investigation was therefore ordered, and those responsible for this improper conduct were identified. While they would ordinarily be subject to strict punishment, on this occasion lighter penalties have been individually assigned. Henceforth, any violation of the regulations issued concerning the private exchange and circulation of gold coinage — whether by conducting unauthorized exchange or by (violating the rules of the exchange office)……
