（前ページより続き）……参った寺社の者どもへは、志に応じて勧化に応じるべき旨、御料は御代官より、私領は領主・地頭より、かねてより申し聞かせておくようにとの仰せ出しがあった旨、大御目付中より御廻状のことであるから、その旨を心得ておくべきである。かねてより御家より仰せ出されている、諸奉加に立たない（応じない）儀は、御代々の御制禁のことであるから、御法の通り堅く相守るべきである。公儀より仰せ出されたことは別段のことである。今度、河内国誉田八幡の修復につき、公儀より勧化御免とされたため、御上ならびに御家中・在郷・町ともに、御上より御寄進料を御差し出しになり、この儀はすでに相済んでいる。御家中・在郷・町ともに困窮の時節であるため、御上より御済ませくださったので、左様に心得るべきである。以上

(Continued from previous page)…those from temples and shrines who have come [with the co-signed solicitation documents] are to be met with donations according to one's means. This order — that the matter be communicated in advance, with Shogunal lands notified by the Shogunal magistrates (daikan), and private domains by the domain lords and local lords (jitō) — has been issued and conveyed via a circular from the Senior Inspectors (ō-metsuke). This should be understood accordingly. As for the long-standing order issued by this domain prohibiting participation in miscellaneous donation drives (shō-fukadate), this remains a standing prohibition across successive generations, and the law is to be strictly upheld. Matters ordered by the public authorities (kōgi) are, of course, a separate matter. On this occasion, in connection with the repair of the Kondayawata Hachiman Shrine in Kawachi Province, official permission for fundraising has been granted by the public authorities. Accordingly, the Lord himself, as well as the domain retainers, villages, and towns alike, were to contribute offerings; however, this matter has already been settled, as the Lord covered the contributions on behalf of the retainers, villagers, and townspeople, given that this is a time of hardship for all. This should be understood accordingly.

Item: On the 2nd day of the 7th month, the messenger Kenmochi Yashichi (Masa-■), dispatched to inquire after the [Shogun's] health during the summer season, arrived in Edo, presented himself to the duty senior councilor (goyōban), and submitted the letter.
Item: On the 6th day of the same month, as a congratulatory gesture for the Obon/Shōryōe festival (oyōshōtama), yellow gold (coins) was presented in the customary manner via a messenger.
Item: On the 20th day of the same month, due to difficulties in the domain's finances (okatte-muki), an increased stipend loan in rice (mashi o-karime) was ordered for the domain retainers.
