敷ゟ致出奔候付宇右衛門兄黒沢由太夫井上仙右衛門

申者両人尋召捕候様申付若其節及違儀候ハゝ
討捨候様申渡則右之趣町御奉行忠江御届申達
置候然処昨廿三日夜於本庄洲崎村各両人之者

（前ページより続き）与五左衛門が以下の書付を持参して相達した。
口上覚
兵部大輔家来・岡部宇右衛門と申す者が、旧臘二十七日に江戸屋敷より出奔いたしたため、宇右衛門の兄・黒沢由太夫・井上仙右衛門と申す者両人に、〔宇右衛門を〕尋ね召し捕るよう申し付け、もし其の節に違儀に及んだ場合は討ち捨てるよう申し渡した。すなわち右の趣を町御奉行忠〔利〕へ御届け申し達し置いた。しかるところ、昨二十三日夜、本庄洲崎村において右両人の者が宇右衛門を見つけたため、召し連れて罷り帰るよう申し聞かせたところ、違儀に及んだため、止むを得ず其の場所にて討ち捨て申した。右の場所は御支配所とのことでございますので、御届けのため罷り出た次第でございます。以上。

竹千代様の御袴着が相済んだことを御祝いのため、江戸表へ御使者として、御先物頭・水野藤兵衛（宗■）を差し出された。今日、福井を出立。
一、同月二十九日、郡奉行・小栗治右衛門（安正）の支配下にて餓死する者が男女合わせて八百四十五人出た旨が相達したため、御救米を下されるよう御奉行に申し談ずべき〔旨が命じられた〕。

Oral Memorandum (Kōjō Oboegaki)
A retainer of Hyōbu-no-Taifu named Okabe Uemon absconded from the Edo residence on the 27th day of the previous twelfth month. Accordingly, two men—Kurosawa Yoshidayū and Inoue Senemon, elder brothers of Uemon—were ordered to search for and apprehend him, with instructions that should he resist, they were to cut him down on the spot. The details of this matter were duly reported to the Town Magistrate (machi-bugyō) Tada[toshi]. On the night of the 23rd (yesterday), at Suzakimura in Honjō, the two men located Uemon and informed him that he was to be brought back into custody, but he resisted. Left with no alternative, they cut him down on the spot. As the said location falls under your jurisdiction, we have come forward to make this report. Respectfully submitted.

To offer congratulations upon the completion of the hakamagi (ceremonial first-wearing of hakama trousers) of Lord Takechiyo, the o-saki-monotogashira (vanguard unit commander) Mizuno Tōbei (Mune-■) was dispatched as messenger to Edo. He departed Fukui today.
Item: On the 29th day of the same month, it was reported that 845 men and women in total had died of starvation within the jurisdiction of the district magistrate Oguri Jirōemon (Yasumasa). Instructions were given that the matter should be discussed with the magistrate regarding the provision of emergency relief rice (o-sukui-mai).
