救荒本草曰
　　　南芥菜（ハタザホ）　和産

　　　　　　　　　　　　　救荒本草ニ開クト淡黄花曰者

『本草綱目』に曰く
　　　白附子（ビャクブシ）　　国俗でトンボソウと言う。旧説では
　　　　　　　　白附子に当たる者がこれである。
　　　　　　　　トンボソウは耬斗菜を言う
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　（オダマキ）

『救荒本草』に曰く
　　　南芥菜（ハタザオ）　和産

　　　　　　　　　　　　　『救荒本草』に開花時は淡黄花と記されているが
　　　　　　　　　　　　　異なっている。一種があるのだろうか。後で描くべきである。
　　　　　　　　　　　　　その他は一致している。苗の初めは地に付いているが、開花の
　　　　　　　　　　　　　時は葉が少なく、その茎が直立しているのが棹のようなので
　　　　　　　　　　　　　故に名付けられたのだろうか。

According to the *Jiuhuang Bencao* (Famine Relief Materia Medica):
　　　Southern mustard (Hatazao) - Japanese variety

　　　　　　　　　　　　　The *Jiuhuang Bencao* states that the flowers are pale yellow when blooming,
　　　　　　　　　　　　　but this differs. Perhaps there is another variety? This should be sketched later.
　　　　　　　　　　　　　The rest matches. The seedling initially spreads on the ground, but at flowering
　　　　　　　　　　　　　time there are few leaves, and its stem stands erect like a pole (sao),
　　　　　　　　　　　　　so perhaps it was named for this reason.
