【Right Page】 Purification and cleaning procedures for the Day of the Horse (wearing court dress) - the taboo child does not participate Previous day: Surround the sacred birth place with sacred sakaki trees, with Yato-ne leading the shrine attendants to perform the enclosure service. The sacred lanterns of the main shrine, provisional halls, and subsidiary shrines are also replaced. The head priest and other shrine officials each handle the arrangements and deliver the ceremonial paper to the deputy officials of the administrative office. In this ceremony, on the Day of the Horse, two sheets of Sugihara paper and one sheet of Mino paper are rolled up, the shrine name is written on a tag paper and presented to the shrine grounds. Hour of the Rooster: Each shrine official comes to participate (in this ceremony, they first gather at the attendants' place, but when passing by the side of the sacred costume chest, they sit and bow once) They arrive at the earthen hut (however, both officials of the tutelary deity follow the sacred costume chest, proceed to the worship hall of the young shrine, return and arrive at the earthen hut, at which time 【Left Page】 each rises from their seat) Next, they sit in the bridge hall (in this ceremony, the head priest and shrine maiden officials sit on the west side facing north and east, the blessing officials sit on the east side facing north and west. However, in recent years, the shrine affairs deputy does not take this seat, therefore the Onmyō master also finds the untying rope and human effigies unnecessary) Next, the untying ropes and human effigies brought by the Onmyō master In this ceremony, they are placed in a viewing box and distributed simultaneously to both the shrine maiden and blessing officials. Each shrine official unties the rope with their mouth, then takes the human effigy and breathes on it, flows it to the rear river, then scatters rice and claps hands. Next, purification brought by the Onmyō master (in this ceremony too, this is distributed to both sides simultaneously. The shrine officials finish and rise from their seats) Next, each shrine official takes their seat before the deity. This ceremony proceeds as usual
