槍術は南信各藩で菅沼を師とする。故に諏訪
では菅沼氏を招聘し、飯田では菅沼一族を安
藤氏の養子とし、高遠では伝一郎を召し抱え
られたのである。
伝一郎を召し抱えられた当時、ある日阿左見帰睡は
菅沼伝一郎を招いて酒食でもてなし、宴が盛り上がった
頃に帰睡は別室である自分の居間に行って
自殺した。思うところがあってのことであろう。一家の驚き
は並々ならなかったが、帰睡の妻女は沈着冷静に
事に当たり、まるで普段のように伝一郎に対して「主人があいにく腹痛を起こしました
ので」

「失礼ながら中座いたします」旨を告げ、もてなし
に至らぬことはなく、断腸の思いを抑え、悲哀の
色を表さず、ついに伝一郎に帰睡の自殺を
知らせることなく、その辞去を送るまで良く礼
儀を尽くし、伝一郎が辞去した
後もなお自殺のことで喪を発することはせず、翌日に
なって突然発病死去の趣を届け出て
葬儀を営んだという。長子繁喜が幼
年であるため、帰睡の末弟治郎右衛門が家
督を相続した。後年治郎右衛門は佐藤済弥
と共に金奉行を勤めていたが、事情があって共に
永の暇となって家名断絶した。繁喜はその後

invited Suganuma Den'ichirō and entertained him with food and drink. When the banquet reached its height,
Kisui went to his own sitting room in a separate chamber and
committed suicide. This was likely due to some inner thoughts. The family's shock
was extraordinary, but Kisui's wife dealt with
the matter calmly and composedly, and as if nothing had happened, told Den'ichirō that "my husband has unfortunately developed stomach pains,

"please excuse him as he must withdraw from the gathering." She maintained perfect hospitality
without any shortcomings, suppressed her anguish, showed no
signs of grief, and ultimately never let Den'ichirō know of
Kisui's suicide. She maintained proper etiquette
until seeing him off upon his departure. Even after Den'ichirō's departure,
she still did not announce mourning due to the suicide. The next day
she reported that he had suddenly fallen ill and died, and
held funeral services accordingly, it is said. Since the eldest son Shigeki was of tender
years, Kisui's youngest brother Jirōemon succeeded
to the family headship. In later years, Jirōemon served as
finance magistrate together with Satō Saiya, but due to certain circumstances, both
