一 懸樹事
式の懸とは桜 柳 鶏冠木 松なり
木の間は二丈二三尺まても可植昔は
以外ひろきも侍しかとも近来無之但
木の大小庭のひろさに随て可相計也
せはき庭にとりては木之間一丈八九尺
にも可植但二丈より内は法のさす外な
りたゝ略義なりとも力なく可植也
一 植様事
南向の庭ならはうしとら桜 たつみ柳
ひつしさる鶏冠木 いぬゐ松 此分に可植也
自余東向西向北向等之植様事有子細
たゝいつれの方なりとも南向の庭のこ
とくに其方を本に植へき事不可有

一 懸樹の事
正式な懸樹とは桜・柳・鶏冠木・松である。
木の間隔は二丈二、三尺まで植えてよい。昔は
非常に広い庭もあったけれども、近頃はそのようなものはない。ただし
木の大小は庭の広さに応じて調整すべきである。
狭い庭においては木の間隔を一丈八、九尺
にも植えてよい。ただし二丈より狭いのは正式な作法から外れる
ものであり、略式であってもやむを得ず植えるべきである。
一 植え方の事
南向きの庭であれば、丑寅（北東）に桜、辰巳（南東）に柳、
未申（南西）に鶏冠木、戌亥（北西）に松、この配置で植えるべきである。
その他の東向き、西向き、北向きなどの植え方についても理由がある。
ただし、どの方角であっても南向きの庭のように
その方角を基準に植えるべきことに変わりはなく、
それが困難であるということはない。

1. Regarding the Suspended Trees (Kake-gi)
The formal suspended trees are cherry, willow, cockscomb tree, and pine.
The spacing between trees may be up to 2 jō 2-3 shaku. In ancient times,
there were extremely wide gardens, but such gardens do not exist nowadays. However,
the size of the trees should be adjusted according to the width of the garden.
For narrow gardens, the spacing between trees may be
1 jō 8-9 shaku. However, spacing narrower than 2 jō deviates from proper form
and should only be planted as a simplified arrangement when unavoidable.
1. Regarding Planting Arrangements
For a south-facing garden, plant cherry in the ushi-tora (northeast), willow in the tatsu-mi (southeast),
cockscomb tree in the hitsuji-saru (southwest), and pine in the inu-i (northwest). They should be planted in this arrangement.
There are reasons for the planting arrangements of other orientations such as east-facing, west-facing, and north-facing gardens.
However, regardless of which direction it faces, like south-facing gardens,
one should plant with that direction as the foundation, and
this is not a difficult matter.
