信州浅間山が先月下旬から噴火している様子で、今月に入ってとりわけ激しくなり、私の領地である上州七日市領では時々火山灰が少し降っていたところ、同月6日夜中から非常に激しい震動が絶え間なく聞こえ、火山灰や火山石が降り続き、同日夜に入ってますます激しくなり、5、6寸積もりました。同日昼時から夜のように暗くなり、火山灰や震動等はまだ止んでいないと、領地の家来どもから報告がありましたので、まずはこの件をお届け申し上げます。なお追って詳しく調べて報告いたします。以上

鳥居丹波守様から御用番田沼主殿頭様へのお届け書について、お知らせのための手紙写し。丹波守様の領地である野州壬生では、去る6日から翌7日まで西の方で度々震動があり、鳴り響く音とともに灰と砂が混じったものが少しずつ降りました。同8日には同郡・都賀郡西方の御領分内5か村、並びに総州結城郡・猿島郡・葛飾郡内の村々で砂が2、3寸から5、6寸まで積もり、作物に被害のある場所がありました。立毛の件については収穫の上でお届けする予定です。17日にお届けする旨をお知らせいただきましたので写しておきます。

Mount Asama in Shinano Province has been erupting since late last month, and this month it has become particularly intense. In my territory of Nanukamachi in Kozuke Province, volcanic ash had been falling occasionally in small amounts. From the night of the 6th of this month, extremely violent tremors were heard continuously, volcanic ash and stones continued to fall, and by nightfall of the same day it became even more intense, accumulating to a depth of 5-6 sun (about 15-18 cm). From midday of the same day it became as dark as night, and the volcanic ash and tremors have not yet ceased, according to reports from my retainers in the territory. Regarding the report from Lord Torii Tamba-no-kami to Lord Tanuma Tonomo-no-kami (the duty officer), a copy of the notification letter: In Lord Tamba-no-kami's territory of Mibu in Shimotsuke Province, from the 6th to the 7th, there were frequent tremors from the west, and ash mixed with sand fell little by little with thunderous sounds. On the 8th, in five villages within the same county and Tsuga County to the west of his domain, as well as villages in Yuki, Sashima, and Katsushika counties in Soshu Province, sand accumulated from 2-3 sun to 5-6 sun deep, damaging crops in some areas. Regarding standing crops, a report will be made after harvest. We received notice that a report would be made on the 17th, so this copy is recorded.
